twine is just a "finer rope" so to speak. the idea of fixing something that is not supposed to move with twine (or rope) just doesn´t make much sense when there´s material like ducttape around.
I mean look at building rafts for example. sure they use rope in the movies and books, but I can guarantee you all that if they had
duct tape like we do in PZ, they wouldnt even think about using rope...

we have the ability to farm / harvest potatoes. why not being able to make moonshine ?
the player needs a decent level of cooking (to understand the destilling process)
plus a decent level in carpentry (to be able to construct the destilling aparatus)
would work like a stove.
gets ignited just like a campfire.
needs fuel like a campfire
input: 10 potatoes, empty mug, bucket of water
output: mug of moonshine
too much for me but I bet some of you are able to pull it off....

may I suggest that instead of using rope to build the lamp on a pillar, use duct tape instead ?
I think it makes much more sense to use duct tape... especially considered players have to chose between
repairing stuff with it OR building the light soruce instead...
duct tape or bust !!

hi there,
I just recently (this morning) added several items to the game.
I followed this tutorial:

and started new games in sandbox, with no zombies to test it out. alas, nothing.
could it be that editing the existing items.txt and newitems.txt was totally wrong ?
I copied all files and that way I basically have two installations of PZ so that I dont mess with the IWBMS built....

indeed. I started to work thorugh the link you provided and simply gave up:-)
might be a bit too much for me .
I think I might have to stick with new items and recipes for now.
and maybe start to create a map

it would be this:
new items:
1. walkmen (or cd player)
can be used with batteries (so sam reload functionality as torches)
2. tapes (or CD´s)
works as ammunition maybe ?
allows to play music (maybe even call an outside app and lets you fire up winamp or some other
media player??)
so for each tape (or CD) you possess in your inventory, you can play music (or any audio) with a
length of ...30min ? this would be real time of course...
the item improves happiness, reduces stress but also decreases hearing (of course)
what do you say ? can this be done ??

to an activity (like "working out") that improves happiness, reduces stress / boredom while also
increasing fatigue...??
Surely:
- Item scripts
- Custom UI / Menu entries
- Custom Timed Actions
Possibly:
- New Animations
- Possibly some stuff on the java side of the game

I find that havinbg crates in warehouses spawn different kinds of items ist kinda...
unrealistic.
I mean who mixes up farming seeds and shotgun shells ?
so I think instead of having different items each with a chance to spawn per crate, why not change it
so that each crate only spawns one type of item, but if it spawns it has more of one type.
so you would easily find
crates of tools
cartes of duct tape
crates of axes (yes, even they get shipped wholesale)
worst case scenario would be that you have a warehouse full of crates that just spawns paint.
but wouldnt that be so unrealistic ?
so in order to make sure that you have all chances for all kinds of items, you have to visit
the
home improvement store
the outdoor store / survivalist store
gunstore
etc etc etc
in future maps this would mean more real commercial districts with all kinds of different stores
so is this possibel and how could it be done ???

I integrated new items including recipes and icons... but I haven´t found them yet ingame.
(I also edited the "suburbandistribution.lua"
I changed only some spawn locations and have yet to visit them in my test-save.
the new items are
crate of chips (a card box full of chips bags)
crate of ducttape
crate of woodglue
newspaper bundle
3 types of beer cans
if all goes well and it worked out, I will keep adding items.

i have given up. I lack the patience.
onec I started inserting items, I needed recipes, plus icons... and waht is not stored in boxes around warehouses ?
basically EVERYTHING
I foudn this: most are free for noncommercial use.
would LOVE to see some of the stuff implemented

and how hard can it be to copy&paste some script for an existing item and modify it ??

we find garbage bags... why not
boxes of garbage bags (we buy them by the 20/50, right?)
boxes of tissues...
boxes of ducttape
boxes of scotchtape
boxes of matches...
crates of chips(in storerooms of shops)
crates of apples
crates of lollies
sixpack of pop
sixpack of water bottles
sixpack of... BEER
beer works to improve happines (-5) but also increases drowsiness +3 and hunger +2

we have a whole trailer park (or even two)
we have all sorts of gardening grills and sheds, so this should be readily available:
propane bottles
can be used to "power" those propane grills that are standing in some gardens...
propane stoves, grills,
etc.
also, rainwater stored in barrels can get all kinds of nasty with some time.
drinking it right away might be ok, but I think we can up the ante by introducing
water purification equipment...
pills, and filters work well.
oh the most important: head torches.
I am not a modder and can´t program to save my life..but maybe this interests someone

I would absolutely love that mod.
it would need
skills (engineering, electrical engineering) and the skillbooks for them
tools (pliers, multimeter, ampimeter, LED´s)
and materials (wires, rubber (for isolation)
so tostart out you could build those lamp-posts and connect them to centrally stored batteries using wires and some isolation,
maybe potato batteries to build reading lights
wind powered generators, solar cells, battery rechargers, steampowered generators
etc etc...

looking from the map I would assume you did A LOT of hauling logs.
or somehow the logs got to gigamart by a different way

thx. it works greatz on a pc, but I also installed the linux server on my VPS, and there is no serversetting-exe (or script)
does chaning the sandboxsettings.xml manually do the trick ?
does anyone know ?
