Hello everyone, and thanks to anyone who can help.

So im running a server with 32.20, running it from the .bat file because im really not clear on how to upgrade it to a steam server.  everything was working fine, got hit with a lot of lag (only playing with 3 lan players, no external connections) and tried resetting the router to fix it.  Now, when we try to rejoin, it says "Players IP does not correspond with the server's IP".  I changed the player folder to match the correct IP, which has worked in the past when my host IP changes, but it did not work this time, and now now one can connect.

Please help guys, and if it requires upgrading it to a steam server.. well I guess I need help with that too!

Thanks again!

In a previous patch i think they changed the ability to transfer characters from one server to another, and as you know character saves are dictated by the ip of the server you play on. Im not sure how they do it or with what but i think thats the issue you may be running into.

Update, I managed to get back into the server, by forcing a static IP for the host computer, and reverting it to the original IP address.  It seems to be working as before, which is by using the server.bat and zomboid.bat files rather than logging in through steam.

does this mean any time the IP for the host changes, all character progress will be lost?  I could connect using a new character, but any character which played on the previous IP was not able to connect.

I did try to set up a steam server, using the instructions provided in the 32.20 post, but I cannot get it to allow any connections.  It says it is listening on port 16261 which I have set up to forward to the host PC, as well as the two default steamserver ports, but nothing seems to work.  I cannot connect using the local IP, external IP, any of the open ports, any combination of the two.  It keeps saying the server is not responding, but based on the server prompt window, everything seems to be working properly.

Thanks for the reply, I did try changing the character folder to match the new server and thats when I ran into problems.  before this patch, that method worked fine.  now the server IP doesnt match the player's IP and it will not allow that character to join.  a new character was able to, but none which had played before the IP changed.

yeah somewhere else hidden they must have something that states where hte character originated from

also you must open up a port for each slot of your server after 16261, so if you wanted 10 slots open up 16261, then 16262-16272
