As a followup to this old post, since we are still struggling with this, what should we do on a dedicated host if the server and clients have mismatched mods, and the server needs to come down to pick up the update(s)? We cannot connect with a client / admin to do a /save and /close in this case.
We still have the previous use case of Gportal rebooting our hosting instance ungracefully.
Both of these use cases result in zombies spawning inside previously cleared buildings (we have zombie respawn and redistribution set to off).
Is there any action we can take in game, such as boarding up / closing up buildings so the Directory can't find a plausible path to spawn zeds in them? Or is this just an issue of the game spawning in zombies regardless of what we do to try and prevent it (in game).
It does seem like sealing up buildings does, to some extent, reduce zombie spawning on ungraceful shutdowns, but maybe this is just the passage of time in-game.
