Why would I ever invest into carpentry levels then if this is intended? Why is that added to the challenge mode reward system? What would those levels gain me?

I tried searching on here, through google etc for anything on this, I only find one other person noticing this problem - the right click menu for carpentry is completely absent from this challenge map. It doesn't matter at all if you have an excess of materials in your main inventory. Hammer, saw, nails, planks, carpentry levels...there is no option at all to build through carpentry. Yet, the game optionally issues you carpentry levels as a potential reward so I have to conclude that this is in error.
