  1. Just did another test. No controller plugged in at all this time: First few attempts, same set up as before, but I had ghost mode on too, I could trigger the 'fall' animation but wouldn't die. Would take some minor damage, but not the fracture like in the previous video. Not sure how ghost mode works so I turned that off and tried again. It took many more attempts but I did get the death to trigger. Not sure if relevant but the one other uncommon setting I have is autozoom enabled. Sorry I was hoping the controller might be the source too!
  2. That's true- I tested keyboard/mouse without activating the controller in the game, but it was still plugged in. I'll test that later too. Anecdotally I've not heard of anyone else have the same bug, and it is so obscure to trigger I won't be offended if it sits at the bottom of your to-do list! Thanks for your help all the same- and sincere thanks to everyone working on Zomboid
  3. In case the video quality isn't clear I took a pic with the health panel open when the fall occurs.
  4. I've definitely had the bug occur while not over encumbered on the stable branch. I know the .gif I posted previously isn't very clear but there is no moodle showing over encumbered there. I've switched back to the unstable and tested- quickly got bug twice. Switched to unstable branch Entered in debug mode Added items, skills etc Added invisible mode Repeated climb sheet rope, press F5 to ascend, turn, climb over fence, press F5 to descend, repeat Got bug with no encumberance but reduced health Teleported to where I'd set up the sheet rope and fence with a new character, got bug. Only thing I'd done in debug was add invisibility. Sorry I forgot to open the health panel on the first two; tested again with a third video https://youtu.be/tOap8abxYC8 https://youtu.be/nqhEebciAmA https://youtu.be/IYS07o3HQP4 (sorry I've never reported a bug, recorded my screen, or uploaded a video before. Hopefully I'm giving you something more useful now, cheers again) console.txt
  5. (Terrible quality, but I thought that better than trying to get 16gb to upload at 3.3mbps)
  6. I made a new save and recorded a video. My internet speed is as terrible as my internet so that is chugging away on YouTube. Will link when it gets there. It took 11 tries on the first tile (adjacent to the stair) and it would not trigger, then 3 tries to get it to trigger on the second tile. Spawned a new character into that world after the one in the video/pictures and I couldn't get it to trigger at all. (I feel your pain testing my report!) I tried pressing F5 at all different times in the climbing animation but it just would not work again on that second character. Only different between them was one I added some skill points etc. through debug. I never did that on the save when the bug first occurred. I've screen capped the relevant frames (at 20fps). Will add the following pics in the next two posts.
  7. Thanks again for quick reply. I just tested it in 41.72 unstable on that same save. It still occurs, but took 3 tries to trigger. Not sure if that is related. I tried again in a fresh save in debug mode, it took several tries but I got it to happen: Invisibility turned on, spawned in items, added skills etc. Tried with metal roof over wooden floor and wooden wall frame underneath to replicate exact condition as when bug first occurred - triggered bug Tried with wooden floor only - triggered bug Tried using keyboard/mouse using 'E' button - triggered bug Anecdotally, it did feel like the bug triggered more consistently on 41.71 but I didn't test so thoroughly on that version. Hope that all helps. As before, happy to give more info
  8. My ancient laptop gave such a poor frame rate it was easier to make snapshots and turn it into a .gif. My equally terrible internet would take an age up to upload a video that doesn't really show much more. I've attached a brutally compressed gif to get it under the 4mb limit in case my description wasn't clear... not that the gif is great either but hopefully it helps. I put everything in Dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/op0xh9k5x82qvm6/AABzgcFygk8-xzVWFYMSiFtBa?dl=0 bug_report.zip contains: logs.zip the original save file that the death occurred on '06-03-2022_11-22-30_bug.zip' the save for the 2nd character (shown in the gif) that I made in the same world after running up to the same area to test what happened '06-03-2022_11-22-30_bug-pre-test.zip' screenshots of when the bug first occurred Fully appreciate the janky gif is isn't exactly the greatest evidence Thanks for the quick response.
  9. 41.71 (stable) Singleplayer No mods Reproduction steps: Start climbing sheet rope attached to player-made fence on player-made floor in south direction Press F5 (speed up until timed action complete) after action begins Instant natural death upon completion of timed action Some extra notes from my own testing: Character does not fall after completing action. Corpse remains on the destination floor Tested with new character Tested while not over carrying capacity Tested beginning climb with controller (how the bug first presented itself to me, still pressing F5 on keyboard) and with keyboard/mouse only Tested with sheet rope facing east direction- bug does not occur Tested with non-player made fence- bug does not occur Tested with player-made floor (placed over a non-player made floor) and non-player made fence - bug does not occur I'm running Linux. I recall the old fence double hop fence animation bug. Thought it may be similar/relevant I asked around the community a little before reporting. Not aware of anyone else encountering the same bug Not salty about the death. I back up my saves (logs.zip doesn't want to upload [error code 200], will try again after posting) Happy to provide any more info if you need it. Cheers and thanks for all the work you do.
