Leaving "Enable Zoom" unchecked makes the game a lot moodier, with colors also popping out a bit more. Indoor areas without power are incredibly dark, and flashlights are required to see anything, even in daytime. Not necessarily a bad thing, but consistency between settings is paramount.
The pictures show, in order from top to bottom; Outdoors with zoom turned off, outdoors with zoom turned on, indoors with zoom turned off, and indoors with zoom turned on.
