I found the reason. Every ingredient has the amount left to use on it. And sometimes, when there is not enough to complete the dish, they get error, and bug out. If i take meat that has enough left on it, it adds without any problem. Same with any other ingredient, I had problems with. It seems game does not understand the left over part of foods, and errors out if there is not enough to complete the recipe. You need 10 units, for ingredient to work.

Strange, but seems it does not depend on skills. Died, new character had same problem in same kitchen. So its either save dependent or location or items in use. Creating new game does not show same problems for a while, until it starts happening again.

More logs. Tried adding steak to stir fry, got error, chicken worked. Then tried adding chicken to roasting pan, failed, same with steak. And any meat I tried after that, even after emptying the pan. Seems some other action bugs out food creation, and then it just stops working. If more info needed I can send saves or whaever. No mods, just custom sandbox. Edit: Seems that problems start with maxing out of cooking skill. Maybe it will narrow ir down somehow

I managed to fix the issue. had to uninstall the game, and remove users folder for zomboid. Lost saves and configs, but now food works. Scratch that, sometimes still happens, on specific meats.

I have same issue. Only it can happen with any meat. Tried roast, stew, soup and stir-fry. Removed all mods, unsubscribed, reverified files. Created new game. Issue persisted.
