  1. I like the red dot idea for aiming, and this can work in conjunction with the new weapons overhaul system too, they don't have to be mutually exclusive.

I also like the idea of creating a more responsive UI, which I think is already in the works.  My understanding is that they had to overhaul the UI a few versions ago and haven't had time to update the current interface.

The number of times I've clicked on a sink and not been able to fill my bottle is silly.

As to the highlights, I personally think that it would be a good idea right now as there are no tool-tips or hints really.  It's a "read the wiki/forums" game.  As the UI gets fixed though there shouldn't be a need for that so much, as we will get tool-tips (I presume).

  2. There is a finite amount of nails I think. You can find lots though. In the North Warehouse in Muldraugh I found about 3-4 boxes (100 per box) and the same amount when I broke all the crates with the sledgehammer.

Wait, you can break crates?  And get nails from them?

Thanks for the clarification, I like that ones at the East end, makes it nice and close to the shops, might make that second base there if I find more nails.

School is where I ended up. Plenty of interior doors to break down and cut out sections of the school. Plenty of reading materials, lots of food until the power goes out, lots of water when the power goes out. Roof is easily accessible and the river is only 2 blocks away. Haven't had a stray zombie in a while there.

I like the school, easy to clear out, but it's quite far from the shops.

I personally like this house a lot: http://pzmap.crash-override.net/#0.6494121158006925,0.102213917437081,323.3392291209263

    -Two Stories

-Good centralized location yet still relatively on the outskirts

Gerbil, you're neighbours with me :)

  3. Lot's of interesting ideas here and also nice to see people's reasoning for the places they chose.

I was looking more from a centralised perspective, something that has good security, close enough to loot the shops and the houses too and has opportunity to minimise on resources used (e.g.  A pre-existing wall to build up to).

I went to Twiggy's but I didn't like the layout, it does seem close to the shops and good for that Mall run, but there's no bed! (Yes, I know it's just cosmetic because you can sleep on chairs, but I like the idea of my character sleeping in a bed).  Also I couldn't find the second fridge - not that this makes any difference as after the power goes out it becomes moot.

Kajin, are you talking about this row of houses? - http://pzmap.crash-override.net/#0.6406887885453215,0.10434870739956738,87.14228238844818

That's an interesting spot, might give it a try for a second base.

Does anyone know if there is a finite amount of nails in the game?  Or if the devs intend to make it finite?

  4. Haha, there's so many threads on this forum and so many changes in all the versions it can be hard to search for something that is up-to-date.  I did the exact same thing, built a giant fort around my base that had a red BBQ (In Westpoint), then discovered there was no way to use it with the BBQ, sad times.

I wonder if there will be a way to 'Dismantle' walls in a future update (or any item crafted with Carpentry), and the higher the Carpentry Level the more of the resources that went in to create the item come back out.

  5. The downside to that, is it would mean having to edit every single page you're setting versions on everytime there's an update, even if that thing doesn't change

Oh no, just update the version number when you update actual content, not when new versions are released.  Doing it like you say would add far too much time and would only be marginally beneficial.

The version number is to give people an idea of how close to the current version the wiki page is.  At the moment I have no idea if the data on the pages is relevant to v27, v26 or a much earlier build (granted some pages already allude to the version they work with), but as someone who has come to the game new and fresh, there was a little learning required to know what was relevant.

  6. Could I recommend adding a PZ version number to the standard pages, and update it if you update a page? That way people using the wiki will have a fair idea if the information is relevant/up-to-date.

  7. I had a quick look but couldn't see this asked before, please point me in the right direction if it has been discussed at length.

Looking at the map from BlindCoder there is a place in Muldraugh that is noted for being a good building agreed by many to be the best place to set up your safehouse, I was just wondering if there is equally a spot in WestPoint that people agree is a good place to set up a safehouse?

  8. Love the new additions with 27 and the increment on 28.

A few questions that I am not sure have been answered (I had a look but couldn't see them so apologies if they have):

    1)  How does PZ know what your 'Safehouse' is?

    2)  Is the sound relative to the camera view or the character view?  I assume the former.

    3)  With v27 the corpses decayed, but any items stored in them would disappear, which doesn't make sense, or at least to stop items from being littered all over the place from un-looted corpses, perhaps it could be that corpses that had items put back into them would drop their items on the floor when fully decayed?

This is sort of moot for 28 as corpses don't decay anymore, but in case you bring it back.

    Keep up the good work!
