In need for controller/gamepad assistance.

Question

Well, as the title says I'm having some difficulties for the USB controller to work properly. Now I'm leaving here what I posted in steam and other places. Thank for everyone trying to help!

Hey guys, I was wondering if you could help me on an issue I've got with my controller. I know it's a common thing what is happening to me- when hitting or shooting with the character the camera keeps moving towards where I am aiming to. (sorry for my english, I'm argentinian) I've already edit every config file I've found like it's said in this discussion. http://steamcommunity.com/app/108600/discussions/1/617321352356626328/

there it also says that you devs have fixed that? I don't know how to make it work properly. Please help me, I want to try playing the game with a friend.
P.S.: If you want me to post in anotehr place in order to make your answer available for more people, let me know and I will post this question in other page/forum, etc. Thanks in advance!

My Joystick prperties are the same but not for the part with "Z axis..." bars. Mine just has two bars: Z axis and Z rotation. I don't know. Couldn't anyone just tell me where is the line in the config file that says the key to move the camera? If only I could erase that key or unbiding it, that would be great.

Hi! What controller are you using (model, brand)? Are you using any dedicated software for the input interface (XInput or MotioninJoy, for example)? Your controller is digital, analog or both? When you say the camera is moving, it means it's moving indefinitely in one direction or (as the Steam Community post you linked says) without separating the attack action from aiming?

The camera moves without separating the attack action from aiming. I have to let go the right stick in order to hit or shoot and get the camera stay still. If I keep aiming with the right stick and then pressing the shoot button, the camera moves the direction I am aiming to. I don't know how to make it more clear, sorry.

Are you using a trigger or a button for attacking? Gamepads with triggers have pressure sensitivity by interpreting the trigger as an analog input, just like the joysticks. As EasyPickins says:

"Triggers" is the number for the both the left and right triggers. The trigger buttons are treated as an axis like the movement and aming axes, that's why there is only one number for both triggers. On my controller the left trigger is Z +1 and the right trigger is Z -1.

So, if you modified the bindings config file as the user in the Steam post, you might have rebinded the attack action to both the right stick and the trigger.

You shouldn't change anything unless you have some kind of gamepad that deviates from the norm, that's why I asked you to state model/brand, software, etc. Do you have this problem with a default configuration?

Yes. It's a USB generic controller. I used it with the emulator to make it look like one of those XBOX360. :/ I has already the problem with the default configuration.

If you used a wrapper then it might be a problem with the wrapper itself. I'm guessing you are using Windows. To make sure the operating system recognizes the input correctly, open the Start Menu and type joy.cpl and hit enter. You should see this:

Click properties on your gamepad. You should see a window like this one:

This window lets you test all the buttons, joysticks and triggers in your gamepad. Is the Z axis recognized as different from the X and Y? If yes, then we can be sure that your gamepad is functioning correctly. If not, then you might have a problem with your wrapper (the emulating software) or either your gamepad doesn't have analog triggers (they would be digital, and thus recognized as buttons).

The problem the user in Steam has is that the triggers on his gamepad aren't recognized as axes, but as buttons. He finally got it right because EasyPickins fixed it, so if you have the last version of the game you shouldn't have any problem at all when rebinding.
