Animations for Interactions

I know this isn't facey book but like this if you got the Joke in the title

Any back to business. I've briefly pointed this out in another STD...I mean SGT and I told you I would make a post about this later on, so enjoy and make some comments about this.

(I'm sorry for saying that I will not post a suggestion today but got to excited anyway...)

I've been playing this game for far too long with fallout 3 Interactions/animations that my character holds against every little thing he stuffs in his mouth, opens up or basically does. I hate the feel that some creepy ghost is my characters best friend who opens doors for him, eats his food and holds all his stuff, SERIOUSLY. They developers have time to make the character hold weapons but can't even have a backpack on to hold them.

I've hated this since morrowind and fallout 3, but at least for fallout 3 had an excuse. I literal pretended that my lone wanderer had shrunk and turned every thing he had into energy which he held inside his pip - boy.

I mean come on, the developer's have time to make animations for hoping inside houses and opening windows but don't even have a believable inventory system. Please all you would have to do is make every inventory increased item the same sprite and have it placed on his back like Joel's (the last of us). ive loved this game even without this and would even love it more with this.

Don't forget about the food. Even in mine craft (which is a pixalated game) had the time to make eating animations. I would love your character to actually pull out some whiskey and drink it or pull out a soup and scoop it into his mouth. This game has so much potential and so much to fill in that it should be essential to have interactive animations.

thanks for reading and hoped you injoyed this post. very small one i know but who gives a dam. this is Tsukune Aono logging out (not literally).

I don't think you know how time consuming the creation of animations really is. That's something for polishing later down the road.

Also people would probably take your threads a lot more serious, if you'd stop making bad jokes all over the place.

hey, dont hate the player...........hate the game

Uhmm, you do know that the game is still in alpha stage, right? They aren't even done adding all the crucial things yet (Like NPCs, Cars, etc that they've promised to have before 1.0 release) and you are already blaming them for not having eating animations. IMO I'm glad that the game has any sort of graphics to it, and isn't completely based on "ASCI" type of graphics. (Some people will get the reference)

yes.........some. any way eating essential, even before combat. but i understand what your trying to say like how most sims are made just to be able to interact realistically without any bling

It's not my job to clean your threads from unnecessary thumbnails, tags or the worst attempts at jokes I've seen in a while.

Even bad porn movies are doing better than that.

I'll let you go off lightly one last time.

You have noone to impress here, so there is no need for those desperate attempts to be funny.

You just don't understand the process of making animations, make research, try to understand what it takes to do them, and "think" before writing posts like this, don't compare PZ to Minecraft when the enginse have nothing in common (well, except Java..).

We're not against criticism, but this is ain't critic, when I read your post, I read "you don't know how to make a game, animations is easy to do, Minecraft pixel game done them, just make more of them it's easy", how can you compare Minecraft animation to ours ? They have just NOTHING in common, MC is a damn Voxel FPS while we're a 3D isometric game, you don't compare Fallout 2 to Fallout 3, same thing.

true, true but im not taking it in that perspective. say you where to absovieate a more analytic area in such a game and add some key features that relate to nothing in that game. then you take it away (without postponing any graphic design) then flirt out with all these animations. i know its hard, im not telling them to do it. Its called suggestions because you suggest an idea, not FORCE THEM TO DO IT. im giving key features here, and helpful hands. im sorry if i was being rude but i like to be straight forward. I love this game and you should too, wouldnt you. that means that we both like this and should make up. Its good to disagree but when you guys take it to the point where its awkward i start getting cranky.

you are an awesome guy robert and i thank you for all your shout outs, but with a little less negativity and i think this forum will run a bit smoother.

wow very sorry Robert i was reading a different post and accidentlally thought it was you. some stuff there i think i will keep on you but most of the stuff at the top you shouldnt worry about. got changed through posts randomly.

This irks me. I don't think that it is at all RJ being negative. When reading your post it is certainly tainted with disdain. You say things like (And I will highlight the issues here for you and then address them point by point below.):

They developers have time to make the character hold weapons but can't even have a backpack on to hold them. *2

I've hated this since morrowind and fallout 3, but at least for fallout 3 had an excuse. *3 I literal pretended that my lone wanderer had shrunk and turned every thing he had into energy which he held inside his pip - boy.

*1: Hate is a very strong word that means very bad things to many cultures, if you think it is not a strong word, it might well be perceived VERY differently by those of other nationalities.

*2: This is implying laziness and lack of skill, which is negative and rather rude. Also, using the word 'seriously' in capitals makes people take it... well... SERIOUSLY.

*3: Again, hate is a very strong word and when you say 'Excuse' you again imply laziness and lack of skill. You are casting TIS in a negative light.

*4: "I mean come on" casts it in a bad light, followed by invalid critique that is doing nothing but bashing an aspect of the game you personally dislike and then toting that as some kind of fact.

*5: This comparison is so inane I could laugh, minecraft has an eating 'animation', that 'animation' is one single cube being transformed. Whereas animating for PZ you would have to actually animate a unit skeletally, apply that animation to every item of clothing usable, create world-models of the item being interacted with (Eaten in this case), that world model will have to be stuck to a node on the animated unit. So indeed it is not simply easy. It is rather complex actually and I would assume it would even fall onto the laps of more than one TIS staff member to actually do this whole thing. So indeed they have better and more important things to focus on.

In conclusion: Your tone is very negative and rather ignorant. Suggesting that RJ be less negative to make it so that "forum will run a bit smoother" is also insulting. It suggests that RJ is somehow what is wrong in this whole debacle, graciously sidestepping your own array of, to put it bluntly, insults.

On the basis of the suggestion itself, if you disregard all your fluff and insolence, then it is a good suggestion,

Apologies if I seem blunt, I just think you fail to grasp why people are reacting so negatively to what you wrote.

I believe that some of us, who play games (like me) aren't aware of all the work that is put into the games, but the best bet for me, is just letting devlopers do their work as they like it : and don't think that reading all day along something like : hey, when are the NPC's coming, where is my car, and stuff like that is gonna help them, so all the stuff we can do for them (in my opinion) is supporting them by buying the game first of all and of course dropping some suggestions from day to day without stating anything that the dev's already are working on and give them all the time they need.  (fedora)

I didn't know I was negative :(
