tazyload
One of my friends was looking for some software to do something similar and without the heavy price-tag that comes with photoshop or the like and after some googling I came across Krita (http://krita.org). It looks like a rather awesome bit of software and is completely free. Maybe something like this could give you a bit more freedom without having to fork out any cash Also something like MyPaint (http://mypaint.intilinux.com/) could be right down your street as it has a large selection of brushes and other tools. Finally I always highly recommend Gimp (http://www.gimp.org/) for those finishing touches. I hope these suggestions are of use to you and I look forward to seeing more of your work
EnigmaGrey
I ended up getting a student subscription for CS6 -- at about $35 with tax, it seemed like the most reasonable option, rather than buying outright a version of the software for a similar price. (Several of my college courses were Adobe specific.)Take a look at Paint .Net, too. Adequate little program for simple things.
ExcentriCreation
Piracy discussion stops here. For future, pragmatic, purposes, pirating an Adobe product or anyone else's product is equivalent to pirating Project Zomboid, when it's expressed clearly on the forums ("Go to piratebay and . . . ").For a general discussion of piracy, we now have this thread: http://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php/topic/1082-piracy-discussion/ Yeah.... Sorry, I just wasn't thinking.... Bad habits & all that I was just trying to be helpful though.... EDIT: @ EnigmaGrey I don't want to push my luck but pls don't call me Excentri Eccentric + CreationbecomesExcentriCreation I like it, thought it was clever ZedHead

I looked at those painting/pc editor programs. I already have gimp 2.8 but the others seemed to catch my eye. I might take a look at em once I find some time here. Oh and thank you for such a nice comment, I plan on creating some wallpapers here so these programs might come in handy along with the support.
