    • I don't use mods but this is a neat idea.
    • I don't use mods but this is a stupid idea. (Go duck yourself)
    • NIETHER OF THESE TWO (Had to make this because it errored poll if you didn't pick one of the above two.)
  3. 3. How much water should be saved from wet towels (in 2L empty pop bottle)? pick only your 2 choices (Dish AND Bath Towel), not the one that's not your choice)

    • Kitten Towel... 1/4 full? (filling up a 2 liter empty pop bottle)
    • Kitten Towel... 1/8 full? (filling up a 2 liter empty pop bottle)

Apologies to the couple of people I promised this too a while back, I was unsure how to get it to work together right and be realistic enough to post, so I shelved it. Until now...

I made (tried) textures (sprites, whatever...)

Here ya Go!! Instructions in the form of a gaggle of recipe images!!

Bugs:

Towel to dirty water recipe needs to be changed (Just made it this way to finish it for now)

You lose the towel when you save the water (can't fix, in vanilla item scripting code)

Can dupe bottles of water if you keep clicking the crafting option to filter water (I have no clue how to fix :P)

Coming:

Adding more items and steps to make the filtration feel more realistic.

Fixing the dirty water part of the recipes.

fix dupe bug?

HOW TO TEST THE FILTERING OUT (If you don't want to loot the items):
Install the Optional "GimmeFilterStuff.lua" and press F8+0 (zero) to get all the items you need to construct and filter some water.

Looking forward to it. I think you should add an option to boil the water, because I think it wouldn't be really clean if it was used to dry the characters body before.

I would but I don't know how to make a recipe require a cooked item. :(

Like it.  I would make the amount almost ridiculously small, though.  A towel would have to be drenched in water to get much out of it.

Re: Boiled water - yeah, I agree but it looks like one of those core things in the game you'd have to kind hack around.  Which is kinda weird, considering the emphasis on things like soup.

Hey Kinyoshi, I actually did an experiment for you, I took a kitchen towel and dried myself with it (after swimming), got 1/16 of 2l pretty much. (120ml).

Had to do it like 7 times. each time it ranged between 100ml -130ml. (it SUCKS as a way to dry yourself btw, I think I air dried before I was done.)

I dried myself off with socks once. :P Good findings :).

^^ You should probably add it then since exactly one person on earth did it and for realism's sake! Lol
I'll do that and use other cloth items, so my sewing kit mod would be useful. I've once dried myself with a bedsheet, didn't work well, but it worked.

Will work on it tonight. :-D thank you for the suggestion!!

  • 3 months later...

regarding how much water you get out of a towel:

firstly, it is HARD to get much water out of a towel that you only used to dry yourself as compared to soaking it in water

the bigger the towel, the harder to wring out water, after cleaning up the same amount with it before.

to clarify (my english isn't that good):

situation a\ you are wet and you use a small towel

situation b\ you are equally wet and you use a big towel

you could wring more water out of the a\ towel

and it should be very little water you get out of this method, I chose the 32 option for both, but think the big towel should be even less
