Working TV / Radio

Say, if you have a TV in your house, It would be cool if you could watch it and get some news of the zombie pandemic everyday provided you have electricity still on. It would be pretty cool to see the progression of the outside world as you survive. All this also goes for the radio.

It would also be cool if certain news affect your character's mood. It would be a source of entertainment to get your character not bored. It may also get you to be more panicky, sad or angry. It may also decrease the rate of sleepiness.

I just think this concept might be a little hard to implement, such as the random news that could come on for each map. However, I would really like this to be implemented even in a more simple way.

the zombies are only in knox county, it's quarantined. In the old tutorials you could hear the radio newsman saying the citizens must be okay because they were  still out on the streets (obvious propaganda) and it was only said on the radio to be like a non lethal strain of the swine flu

How do you know this? That tutorial could be completely irrelevant as its taken out of the game. Since they are planning on expanding the map, there must be zombies in other areas too right?

they are re-adding the tutorial, you asked for evidence and then when you got the best you throw it out the window, like WTF

It is planned. Radio messages at least have been directly confirmed by the devs so let's all yay and continue. :)

The messages will not be voice acted, but rather appear as text as other dialogue in game. (or that was in game...)

Also as 123Imirish said, the starting point of the "story", if you will, is Muldraugh and it's most likely the source of the outbreak. This stuff is somewhere in the future and we have no idea how the devs have planned to introduce it so it's pretty much a moot point arguing on that topic.

Ok thanks for the info.

I do especially like the idea that news can provide random benefits or consequences. Sort of makes it another source of unpredictability when your character is sad and decides to turn the news on, perhaps hoping to see a way out but ends up depressed from the inevitable lack of aid, mistrust of government aid, or any other interesting thing.

Am I the only one who taught about contacting SURVIVORS with radio instead of practically useless "listening to what government says"? Sure, it would bring more realism to the game, but really, once would be enough, who would listen to probably repeating messages over and over again?
