Khornet Posted December 25, 2024 Posted December 25, 2024 None of the standard repair recipes apply to the machete - zip ties, wood glue, glue, duct tape, adhesive tape, nothing. Turns out it IS listed in one of the repair recipes - fix with epoxy. HOWEVER, as I have just found out, its not the "object" of the recipe itself, but rather an ingredient - presumably the tool that's used to cut the fiberglass tape used in the recipe. God forbid the crafting menu conveys this somehow to you instead of just listing two weapons and forcing you to guess what's going to happen. So it doesn't get fixed by it. So HOW do I fix it? Is it just not possible...? I really wanna keep hackin' and whackin', choppin' that meat...

nuget102 Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 (edited) I believe condition refers to the condition of the handle - that recipe you showed the machete isn't repaired, it's used as a tool to repair the 2nd item. I think that should be a little more clear - maybe separate supplies used vs what is being worked on. Bladed weapons have a sharpness stat - you just use a whetstone to fix that. As far as the handle goes you need a hammer, you disassemble it, and you end up with the blade (in this case a machete blade) then use a small handle and hammer to reassemble it into a machete again. The condition should be fixed by that. It seems I'm completely wrong - for some reason bladed weapons have the 'inherit condition' flag on both disassembly and assembly. I think it should only be sharpness that is inherited, but maybe this is intended for some reason? Edited December 26, 2024 by nuget102

The condition should be fixed by that. You are completely wrong, as you've aptly noticed yourself already. You only waste the handle that way. Seems like the machete has three "condition" stats: sharpness, which is easily fixable, but cannot exceed the condition of the blade. The condition of the blade, which seemingly cannot be improved by any means right now, meaning the machete is doomed to break. And the condition of the handle, which seems to be largely irrelevant in the case of the machete (it doesn't affect the "overall" condition, or the condition of the blade). If I'm correct, this stupidly gimmicky system is also going to apply to all long blades, most notably the katana. Kisica 1
Kisica Posted January 11 Posted January 11 I wonder if it's a bug or a feature that we can't repair any long blades. I def hope it will be changed. There must be something that repairs long blades, even if it's "more expensive" than repairing other weapons. Leoquent 1
n11360 Posted January 11 Posted January 11 I can give you a hint i think. Blacksmith, Craft machete blade from melted down butter kifes ...or your almost broke machetes My guess about catana ...its just a skin, either long or swordsword or scrapmetal weapon will be an equivalent to craft/melt recraft. Footnote: I have the feeling dull blades break faster then sharp so keep it sharp or lose it fast ....metall items last long times. Could be subjective thou since durability loss is rng.
