*** More than 140 new food items and dishes ***

*** More than 120 Unique New Recipes ***

*** The most comprehensive Food Mod thus far ***

*** Merges the amazing work by Kinyoshi and Shivster with Community suggested and new items and recipes ***

*** Simplified but believable recipes (No 5-step, 10 item recipes with exotic, single-use ingredients) ***

*** All recipes organized into themed modules - You choose what you want to use [in final release]***

*** Disable or Enable any module without having to start a new save game [in final release]***

This Mod is currently in Open Beta and has been tested up to version 23.Recipes and items should all work by now, but there are still several balancing issues. If you are participating in the Beta, please provide feedback which item spawns needto be addressed or what new recipes an/or items you would like to see added.

What's in CCCP?:

CCCP includes more than 140 new food items, ranging from simple expansions of existing items (e.g. Black Coffee) to more elaborate items (e.g. Stir Fry or Lasagna) all the way to complete sets of recipes for long-term survival (e.g. Dried Fruits, Jerky and Pickled Vegetables).

Every sub-set of recipes is themed to some extent, with every recipe script and distribution file for the required items as a separate module (basically, a recipe_xxx.txt and a xxx_distribution.lua file).
[Currently, there is only one LUA file - the split will happen once the mod has been balanced properly]

You may chose to play with this mod as a whole or activate/de-activate without affecting your current save (see install instructions for details).

Unfortunately, CraftHelper does not like to play nice with this mod so I highly recommend that you disable it when playing with this Mod and use this thread to look up recipes instead.

FAQ:

Another Food Mod? - Yawn!

That's not really a question.
But anyway, the main reason behind this mod is exactly that there are so many already.
This mod aims to merge, combine, consolidate (hence the title) the biggest community mods into one big package while at the same time eliminating the compatibility issues between mods that use different recipes but similar (or even identical) items with different names.
Items are only added to the mod if they can be used in multiple recipes.
Single-purpose items were removed or merged with others to serve multiple recipes while reducing inventory clutter.

I would love to have [food item XXX] but I don't really care for [food item YYY]

Then this mod is perfect for you.
While there are 140+ new food items in this mod, you can pick and chose the ones that you want to have in your save and simply remove the recipes and distribution of the rest from the mod directory.

I thought I wanted [food item XXX] in my save, but now I don't like it anymore

No problem.
Simply delete the recipes and distribution LUA files and all those items will be removed from any future containers you search.
Any items you already found or looted will remain in the game, but no new ones will be added and your save game will not be affected by the change.

I thought I did not want [food item XXX] in my save, but now I think I would like to add it

Also, no problem.
Simply download the module pack you would like to add and copy it into the cccp mod directory, and any new (food) container you loot will have a chance to spawn some of the new items without affecting your save.

[item/Recipe XXX] is stupid!

That's also not a question.
Anyway, the goal here is to provide a comprehensive food mod that includes the most requested items and recipes while keeping it simple enough as to not turn the game into a "The Joy of Cooking - And Zombies".
This is supposed to be a mod by the community for the community, so if you feel strongly about an item or recipe, let's discuss it and see if we can make it "less stupid", merge it with something else or remove it outright.

[item/Recipe XXX] is missing, I really want it!

Let's discuss it.
This mod is by no means complete, but with continued community feedback and suggestions we can turn this into THE food mod.
If something is missing, let's see how we can add it.
The only restrictions should be that any new items have multiple applications (no exotic agar-agar powder flakes to make soy cheese, as much as I would love that myself) and any recipe is something that an unemployed and panicked dude could potentially cook in an apocalypse with a recipe book.

What's with the "clean Dishes" Module? Isn't there one already?

That's right. The one included here was written independently because of the large number of mod-specific items that could potentially result in rotten food stuck inside a container. I'm fine with splitting this module out if it can be added to the "original" clean dishes mod.
And again, if you don't like it, don't use it.

But seriously, another Food Mod? - Yawn!

I heard you the first time. Why are you still reading this?

Version History:

Current Version:
Version 0.7.5 Beta

  • Various small tweaks
  • Fixed broken black coffee/Irish coffee recipe
  • New Item: Rationed Whiskey (only way to make Irish coffee not use a whole bottle of Whiskey...)

Older Version:
Version 0.7 Beta

  • Compatible with "new cooking system"
  • Compatible with Build 28
  • Removed obsolete items (salt, pepper, etc) and updated recipes
  • Added a few new recipes using new items
  • Updated some recipes to include fishing and hunting "spoils"

Version 0.5/0.6 Crafthelper Hotfix

  • Requires Version 0.5/0.6 Beta
  • Extract archive into mods folder, overwriting items_vanilla+.txt
  • Makes mod compatible with Craft Helper Mod

Version 0.6 Beta

  • Updated for release 25
  • Tweaked some item weights
  • Tweaked some item distribution rates
  • Modified some icons and item names to be more different to real-life products

Version 0.5 Beta

  • Public release for testing, bug-fixing and balancing
  • Works for builds up to v23

Compatibility and Known Issues:

  • Latest version has full compatibility with CraftHelper
  • Obviously, any food mods that use similar or identical items, and food mods that formed the basis for this mod are not (fully) compatible. Some might work, but you would end up with two versions of Salt, for example that would not work for all recipes that call for Salt.
    You get the idea.
  • Many food items (most notably the pickled and jarred foods) use the "ReplaceOnCooked" attribute in the item declaration.
This has been done to avoid having un-cooked items turn into non-perishable foods.
However, there seems to be a bug with "ReplaceOnCooked" where the game will crash if
    a) more than one item using"ReplaceOnCooked" is in the heat source (e.g. two pots of uncooked jam) and/or
    b) the heat source inventory is "open" and you can see the switch from uncooked to cooked item.
The items work, the recipes work so there is little that can be done.

Be careful when cooking, close the heat source inventory and just watch your XP go up to see when an item is done.

Permission:

MODS_03.png

I know, I know, it says "community" in the mod name, shouldn't it be free-for all?
Well, "Yes". And "No".
The motivation behind doing this mod, and to make it available for download is to have ONE food mod that will cater to the majority of players, to include something for everyone.

Now, if everybody starts adding his/her own items and recipes it will just revert back to a state of multiple food mods that do something a bit different than others and that are not compatible between each other.
My goal with this mod is to have continued community feedback and suggestions that help make this mod better for everybody, but to leave the editing and updating of the mod off-limits for the masses.

Make sense?

So much potential nearly fully crushed under the foot of the new upcoming cooking system :( I hope you guys will be able to adapt to the new update easily ^_^

As I read it, the new cooking system (NCS) is an expansion of the existing system, not a total replacement, so the old way to define recipes should still work (they created "evolvedrecipe", not just replaced "recipe").

Once the NCS is out it will certainly be a bit of work  to remove some items from this mod that are added to default vanilla (hate to have duplicate items) and tweak the recipes but the bulk of the mod should remain intact.

Now to update the food in this mod to the new system will be a bit of manual labor but will make future expansions a whole lot easier.

(things like baking pizza and cake or cookies would be a lot simpler in the end).

Anyway, I've been tweaking this mod a bit since I posted it (mostly item weights and distribution) but I'll save adding anything new until I can update the mod for version 26 - whenever that will be.

In the meantime, please let me know how to improve the items and recipes here to make this mod better.

Okay, I haven't tested whether or not the items actually work in game, but I have come across a different conundrum. None of the sprites for the new models appear in the game (except the baking tray), and instead they use the placeholder question mark sprite. I don't know if this is intentional but I wondered if you'd like to know.

Otherwise the items appear in-game, but I haven't had the chance to see if any of their recipes function correctly yet.

Are you sure you put the mod in the correct folder (C:\Users\[user]\Zomboid\mods and not the game directory) ?

I tested this on three different machines and it works fine everywhere.

Yeah, I'm sure I put it in the right area, and not in the game directory. Note that I was running it on Build 25b if that matters at all. I don't know why it didn't work that well for me, but if it works for you it's probably something on my end.

Hey guys, thought I'd give users a heads-up that there are major performance issues if you try and use this alongside crafthelper. Every time I open the craft-helper menu on an apple (only thing I have tried it on thus far) the game drops to a crawl and I have to alt-f4 out. I could be due to it being an existing save that I am installing it into though...so I'll try and explore it some more and edit accordingly.

Edit: Same thing on a brand new start. The ProjectZomboid64.exe is very rapidly spamming:

Edit: ah, dammit...

I just realized that I left a test script in there that altered some existing items that caused a stack overflow with craft helper.

To use this mod with craft helper, either delete the file ..\mods\cccp\media\scripts\Mods\items_vanilla+.txt or download the hotfix that I added in the downloads section (it really only alters cheese to be non-perishable, so use it if that suits your play or delete the file to play with vanilla-cheese....)

So far it seems the mod also works in build 26 but there will be some duplicate items now that have been added to vanilla.

I'll try to update the mod to use the new cooking system in the next few days, but I can't commit on any ETA.

I haven't played a lot with the latest build, only small testing, so if any of you guys find items and recipes that are both in vanilla now and in this mod, let me know and I'll remove/update them in this mod.

Yeah, craft helper is outdated in somewhat buggy to begin with. It slows down with all food mods I tried, it's just not that noticeable since most mods only add maybe 5-10 new recipes and not upwards of 100 new ones.

Sucks, I know, since craft helper is a nifty tool, but the bug is there and not in my mod.

Anyway, the recipes are all listed in this thread, and after you played a bit with this mod the common recipes are easy to remember and the more exotic ones (like Kimchi or something) are all listed here.

Using the updated version that Dr Horrible posted for build 25 (http://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php/topic/7184-mods-updated-for-build-25/) and thus far I haven't had single problem with even more complicated mods like Recycle.

Albeit...there is a significant jump in scale between those other mods and this one. Thanks anyway, I tried to find out what the java hangup was but it was beyond my limited knowledge. Anywho, seems like an awesome collaboration from what I have seen so far and I'll definitely follow it!

So it is. But with a problem:

1. all the recipes with "salt" don't work anymore, since there's a cccp.salt as well as a base.salt now. You need to basically just remove cccp.salt from the relevant files and it should be fine, or remove the salt entry from the relevant recipes.

2. baking homemadebread causes the game to crash upon completion. It seems you cannot designate it to turn into baked homemadebread upon cooking completion. I have fixed it by just removing "baked homemadebread" as an item, altering the relevant recipes, and removed the part of the unaked homemadebread script that had it produce baked homemadebread upon completion. Now, it's just "cooked homemadebread". I guess you could still slice uncooked homemadebread, which would be odd, but I don't see any other workaround at present.

It would be nice if we could get this enhancedrecipe compliant for some of the new items.

Heya all,

been super-busy the last few weeks (months, really) with moving, new job etc etc etc.

Anyway, I was hoping to get some more info on the new cooking system and how it would work with mods, but to no avail.

As it seems, the evolved recipes are great in theory if you want to add new items, but there seems to be no way to amend base items to be usable in new recipes.

So, anyway. I had a bit of time to go through this mod and remove now obsolete items (like salt, pepper, yeast), tinkered with some recipes, added a few new ones (rodent jerky and ability to use fish fillet in some recipes) and been testing last weekend.

Enhanced recipe compliance would be nice, sure, but I honestly don't know if I have the drive right now to go through every single item and see where it could fit in.

The spices, sure, might add those in.

I'll give it one more round of testing and will probably release a build 28 update next weekend.

No promises, though, might get delayed depending on my other engagements.

Alright, new version is done and uploaded (link on first post).

I didn't have time to test every single recipe again, but the ones I did test work as expected, although the "replacedOnCooked" crashes remain, nothing I can do.

Please post any issues with this mod here, I'll try to make the next update faster than this current one.

Could a Dried Fish Fillet be added? Some way to preserve fish longer.

Fish fillet and rabbit meat have been added to the jerky recipe.

Small animal meat can be used in the new "rodent jerky" recipe.

So it is. But with a problem:

1. all the recipes with "salt" don't work anymore, since there's a cccp.salt as well as a base.salt now. You need to basically just remove cccp.salt from the relevant files and it should be fine, or remove the salt entry from the relevant recipes.

Salt and Pepper (cccp version) have been removed and recipes were updated to use the new default salt/pepper.

2. baking homemadebread causes the game to crash upon completion.

Works fine on my two test machines (although I updated the recipe a bit to use the default dough as well).

The bug with "replaceOnCooked" remains, though, so make sure to only have 1 item in the oven (not 2 or more breads, no other, different items) and make sure you don't have the oven window open.

It seems to always crash when you can actually see the switch in the inventory, no idea why.

Occasionally it might still crash (rarely, though) but I have no idea why and the devs have remained quiet when I asked, so you just have to live with it for now.

Even if it does crash, the item should be "cooked" in the oven when you load the crash save.

@MickyPain

I am not sure if this mod has a Juicer to make Juice from fruit but it should.

Also I had an idea for a set of recipes. You see you use the rotting stuff on food to turn one food into another food. Like this ...

Grape Juice -> Wine

Wine -> Vinegar

AND

Apple Juice -> Cider

Cider -> Vinegar

I am not sure how long it should take to turn from one stage or another. In the game Haven and Hearth it takes 1 week to change each stage.

Note that the Cider and Wine should work like Whiskey. And you already have Vinegar.
