ISSUE: Zombie populations are unaffected by changes made within ZombieConfig{...}

 

In the attached logs I have tested without any mods whatsoever, and it appears to me that only the Zombies=4 value is being used by the server.

 

I first noticed the issue when attempting to host a server with a population of 0.03, with respawn disabled, and I was using the DefinitiveZombies mod to force all zombies to be sprinters.

I haven't been able to test if respawns are truly disabled either, and would appreciate if that would also be looked into as part of this report.

 

Thank you for your work on this amazing game; I've never had any issues in 100+ hours of singleplayer.

I have the same issue in both single player & multiplayer games with no mods. Setting Population > Zombie Count to None prevents zombies from spawning, however manually adjusting the Advanced Zombie Options > Population Multiplier seems to have no effect. Population Start Multiplier and Population Peak Multiplier may be broken as well. Zombies still spawn even after setting all 3 multiplier settings to 0.0 in the Advanced Zombie Options:

  • Population Multiplier = 0.0
  • Population Start Multiplier = 0.0
  • Population Peak Multiplier = 0.0

Also worth noting there is a typo in the Population Peak Multiplier & Respawn Multiplier options - they are both missing an i:

The goal is basically to get 0 zombies to spawn, correct? In my experience, these settings are working correctly, but there is a lot of nuance to it, and getting 0 zombies is definitely not possible in my experience.

 

Can you report where you are seeing zombies spawn with all multipliers on 0? There are some spawns that are independent of population settings. It's possible it's unintentional, but I've always assumed it to be intentional.

Heres the ones Im aware of:
1) buildings - max population multiplier of 1, setting to 0 I think should prevent most building spawns though.
2) meta events - meta events still spawn, so car crashes will spawn zombies, house parties will spawn zombies, etc. 

There are good reasons not to make these tied to population settings, but I could see why someone may want to prevent these when aiming for <1x pop.

The population drop down option changes the figures on the advanced zombie options page, however it also controls the population inside buildings.  Setting the advanced values to 0 but not changing the drop down to 'none' will still spawn zombies inside buildings.  Changing the drop down to 'none' will automatically changed the advanced options to 0.
