Do custom mod maps have loot respawning?

Question

I just set up a dedicated server with some friends, and after adding and testing some maps, we noticed that items weren't respawning, unlike in the vanilla cities where this doesn't seem to be a problem. Do you know how I can fix this?

and every week another dude opens a thread, so whats the point to close those? its weird.
keep the tread open and maybe someday we can find a solution. 

 

The correct instructions are in our tutorial. Step 6.

 

Threads get archived automatically by IPBB when they're inactive for a long time. Regardless, the fixes are in various threads about the same issue, as I've linked.

 

Overall I found a whole 4 posts here for the past 8 months, excluding this one. I'm sure there's more on Steam ("loot respawn broken" returns a whole 29 threads since 2013), but for a game with 20-40K players per hour, this tells me it's exceedingly rare (although I get why it's frustrating when you're trying to deal with the issue).  Remember, the game is 12 years old and Google is going to be giving you an awful lot of results from 8-9 years ago around the time when we transitioned from maps without zones to maps with zones.

 

In general, I'd not recommend people add or remove maps without resetting the map. It's just asking for trouble. Now maybe that is something we can sort at some point, but until and if that happens, I'd suggest just wiping the save.

dude, u losted more time trying to justify yourself than helping. 

not clearly asnwers or solutions. and it feels like you guys get mad for your things not working.

maybe we have to wait another 12 years until having a easy and clear way to add map mods that have loot system works.

You’re welcome to ask for clarification on anything you’re having issues with in the above linked threads, but I don't see how i can help beyond that.

Expanding on the question, I'd also like to mention that on the in-game map, the VSH store in March Ridge is not visible. Interestingly, it doesn't seem to regenerate loot either. Could you please kindly advise me on what I should modify in the files to address this issue? I apologize for any inconvenience, as I've had difficulty finding much information about this online. Your assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Bedford is quite an old map, but was updated in 2021. So it might not ultimately be the zones, but

Find the Objects.lua file in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\108600\522891356\mods\Bedford Falls\media\maps\BedfordFalls\

 

You can open it in Notepad and add Townzones as necessary, there. Anywhere there's a townzone, loot should respawn.

I'll forward that workshop item to the map team, as well, to compare against the existing list and see if those same holes exist in b42 or not.

And do you know which maps have the issue? Since you did not list any.
It is not a game issue, there are no reports of this happening on the normal map, nor are there any reports of it happening on most popular map mods.

I can’t imagine how this could break beyond a mapper not zoning their map or a server admin accidentally turning off loot reapawn or enabling ConstructionPreventsLootRespawn. 

 

Note, this is fairly unlikely compared to a settings issue: If you have an automated service controlling the server that just kills the process  or you yourself kill it without sending the save and quit commands, data loss (such as time keeping) is expected. PZ isn’t set up to be a background application, yet many providers and hosts and users try to force it to be one.

Or maybe it's a settings issue?

 

Or maybe the map's zones weren't properly defined? Or a conflict because the world wasn't reset after adding/removing the mods.

 

 

Could even be setting up a server in such a way that time and other metadata become corrupted on shutdown?
