Game crashing when starting a game

Question

Every time I try to create a character, as soon as I add his skills, on the next page it crashes. I tried different ways to solve it, I updated drivers and programs and nothing was resolved either.

Can you try switching the game to Windowed mode and see if that improves the experience?

Go to the C:\Users\YourUserName\Zomboid folder and edit the options.ini file.

In that file, edit the fullscreen=true line to fullscreen=false

Then try launching the game again.

We might need more information about the issue in that case.
Can you try going to “Steam\steamapps\common\ProjectZomboid” and run the “ProjectZomboidOpenGLDebug64.bat” file? If the issue happens again, can you share a screenshot of the console window that shows up when you use it? It should provide more information about the error when using this file.

In that case, can you check the Windows Reliability monitor for any ProjectZomboid application crashes there? If you do find any, can you share a screenshot of the Technical Details section so we can check the errors that show up there?

It seems like there is still an issue with the display / graphics card.
I can only recommend trying to fully reinstall your graphic drivers in case there are any issues with it as shown in this guide:
https://www.tomshardware.com/how-to/uninstall-nvidia-amd-intel-gpu-drivers


Other than that, you can try turning off everything in the background, including your browser to see if that helps, as sometimes background applications can cause issues.

Thanks, as far as I can see this is most likely an intel related error.
Could you check if you have your monitor connected to your Nvidia graphics card and not to your motherboard? As that might cause this issue.

How did you installed the drivers the first time after you formatted the PC?

And can you try resetting your Nvidia settings to their Defaults?

Right-click on your desktop and select Nvidia Control Panel.
Click Manage 3D Settings.
In the upper-right corner, click Restore Defaults.

It seems like the error is just related to the graphics card failing to render the game, though there is no pointer as to what the exact cause might be. Do you have any issues with other games after formatting your PC? Have there been any errors while formatting it?
