Crows

There's farms, cornfields, and dead bodies littering the streets I'd think there would be crows a plenty.

It's not something that needs to be added to the game but it'd give more immersion to the game.

Even just a crow environmental sound or murder of crows cawing meta-game event would suffice.

I mean, we have thunder so why not crows? Add a small level of creepiness to the game.

would have been nice to at least add it in here since it's already on the same page and doesn't even require a least amount of search........sometimes i think no one cares to have a page full of same ideas....organisation seems to be a dead branch -.-

I didn't see that thread. Anyways, he gave his version of the idea and I gave mine. Two different viewpoints.

But the damn topic is the same and that's the point.

right now the front page looks like this

Crows (here's you)

Birds, rats....

Huntable wildlife and animals

even if a zombie gnawed off half of the brain it wouldn't be hard to see that those three are one and the same and all ideas would fit into one topic (that already exsists too...if you did a little search) instead of throwing in 10 new ones.

if you've read the the 3 pinned threads (of wich two say [READ BEFORE POSTING]) you'd know that the point isn't to smash in 10 new threads with another viewpoint on one topic but to try and keep the topics together so that there is just one topic with multiple viewpoints to get an overall image of oppinions on THIS PARTICULAR TOPIC and not having to search 39 pages to get together all viewpoints of wich probably the half has already been said before.

There's 4 post between his thread and mine. I didn't see his thread. I got a good idea in my head and wanted to suggest it before I forgot about it. His thread isn't exactly the same. His talks about birds, rats, and seeing them do stuff or whatever. Mine was specifically about crows and environmental sounds.

Look, I know you and sfy see this sub-forum as a sacred place not worthy for someone such as I but try and calm yourself. This sub-forum isn't exactly bustling with threads and post. If you don't like me or my post, or how I post then just kindly ignore it. I'm just trying to contribute to the forum and the devs to help give them ideas and improve the game for the better.

excuse me?

i'll just refer to the words of Rathlord, in the How to make a good suggestion thread

Heya guys,

Rathlord here. I'm going to give a few quick tips on how to write a good suggestion for Project Zomboid- some of the pitfalls and traps you can fall into, some of the resources to check before writing, and what makes a good suggestion.

Before You Post!

You know that moment when you're sitting on the can and all of a sudden, the most brilliant idea in the world comes to you? Something that would change PZ forever, bring it skyrocketing to fame and stardom? Good~ now hold that thought.

There's a few things you should do before you post. First and foremost (especially if you don't frequent the Project Zomboid forums) you should read through the other sticky in the suggestions forum, which has a list of commonly suggested and confirmed/denied suggestions:

Here's the archived old 3 part version written by several community members as well:

If you've read over these threads and your idea hasn't been suggested before, been said "No" to, or been listed as planned there's one other thing to do; search! We don't ask that you spend hours paging through search results. Just put your main topic (say, "Cars") into the search pane. If you don't see anything, feel free to move on.

Now it's time to take a critical look at your idea!

The last thing you should do before you post is take a good, objective look at what you're proposing. The basic questions you should answer before posting:

  • Is it somewhat realistic?
  • Does it fit with the spirit of PZ?
  • Would it make the game too easy?
  • Would it require rewriting the entire game (like changing the camera view, for instance)
  • Would it add enough to the gameplay that it would be worth taking the time to add?
  • Would it be found in Muldraugh, Kentucky common enough to be added?
  • For zombies: Does it fit at least somewhat into Romero/Brooks zombie lore (the basis for 'proper' zombies)?

Posting your idea!

Time to post your idea, finally! (Finally? Oh come on it didn't take that long.) First, your title.

Titles should be short and they should give the basic idea of your suggestion. Three examples to show the extremes people go through with titles:

1: idea
2: Automobiles
3: Devs, add in cars now please and also buses and trains and tanks and bicycles and blimps and zeppelins and submarines and autogyros.
Please don't ever make your title just your name followed by the word suggestions (Rathlord's Suggestions!).

Now on to writing the body of your post. Please follow the same basic principles of posting constructively in every forum. Use complete sentences, grammar, and punctuation. You may think it's a waste of time; it's not. It helps people understand you and makes people more liable to agree with you.

Please do not post multiple ideas in one thread. I won't go completely into why this is bad, but in short it hinders constructive criticism and makes it hard to follow which part people are talking about. Chances are, anyways, that if you have more than 5 suggestions most of them have been suggested before.

Responding to Criticism!

After posting an idea your job is only half done. It's now your job to listen to what the community and/or devs have to say about your idea. It's hard for anyone to listen to their idea being critiqued, but you should do your best to remain calm and positive.

If someone says your idea has been posted before: If they haven't linked a thread, ask them where. If they link you a thread and it's similar enough to your idea, you should consider deleting your thread and posting in the other one instead (even if it's old).

If people add things you enjoy to your thread: It's common courtesy to add things that other people suggest to your original post (for example, when discussing cars if someone mentions trains, and you like that idea, add it to your post using the "Edit" feature and mention that it was suggested by them, not you). This is a good way to make other people feel involved in your idea and help it be shaped by the community.

If people criticize your idea: Please listen to constructive criticism. I know it can be very hard sometimes, but many times people are just doing and saying what they think is right for the game. They may even be right sometimes. It's perfectly fine to have a back and forth banter discussing the idea, but if it becomes heated or you're both posting the same thing back and forth in circles it's a good idea to either stop responding to them or just leaving the thread all together. Sometimes that great idea just turns out to be a rotten egg- it's happened to the best of us.

If people start flaming you or your idea: Please do not respond in kind. It doesn't help anyone to flame back. If you feel they've stepped over a line or are bringing down an otherwise good idea, then report them to a moderator and move on (don't post "Reported" or anything like that- that's just another way of flaming). We all run into these people and the best thing you can do is remain calm and courteous. Most of the time, if you're friendly and firm, they'll get bored and leave.

see, what you consider ideas to make the game better, do not always seem that way to others. and your little habit of creating as many new threads as possible every day only buries other ideas, some of which may have actually been better ideas. in this case, why exactly do you think your crow idea can't fit in with the birds thread? last time i looked, crows had wings and flew, just like 99% of the other birds out there.

quite often i see the mods make the comment that it is better to necro bump an old thread than it is to create a new thread on the same topic. (with exceptions)

i'm really doing hard to believe that everyone has such a short attention span to be unable to keep a thought in his head for longer than 5 minutes, cause that's always the main reasoning behind double and tripleposting. i know that your's was specific about crows while his was about birds in general. But i won't go and make a new thread about wheelbarrows "because the other thread is about transport in general but i wanted to talk about wheelbarrows in particular"

There is no intention regarding personal like or dislike of you or anyone else. i have nothing against you personal or your ideas. how am i even supposed to? i don't even now you. and i'm way to reasonable to be that shallow to judge you by 30 posts of you that i read (or some more ;D). Also im fully independent of sfy. it's just trying to still keep things organized and keeping the rules (OBEY!!!! ^^).  I know you try to contribute and help the devs (how else would you explain 110 posts in under 2 weeks?). what i and the 3 pinned threads of wich 2 say [read before posting)] try to tell you is, that by spreading one topic across 20 threads, you do the exact opposite of "helping the Devs". Because now there is one poor guy who has to search the whole forum to get an overview of one perticular topic (in this case wildlife and animals), wich is pretty time consuming. Therefore it is reasonable to try and keep the suggestion forum as organized as possible.

and just in case you still doubt my intention i can assure you, most of your ideas make sense, are good ans some i even like.

Guys, ease up on the backseat moderating please. I appreciate the intent, but if you have a problem with a post it's better to just hit the "report post" button and let me deal with it. If anything, just post a link to a thread where it's already mentioned and let the OP know- leave it at that.

Rickashey, we do ask that you follow the guidelines laid out, though. At least do me the favor of searching once and checking the commonly suggested sugggestions post before throwing an idea out there. It not only clutters the forum to have multiples of the same idea out there- it spreads out the idea when both posts could have good things to them, and makes it hard to have one constructive, helpful idea grow out of it.

Similarly, if the forums are cluttered with repeats of the same (or similar) ideas, the devs are less likely to actually look through this subforum. The goal of the subforum is to present well thought out, unique ideas to the developers, but if Lemmy101 opens this up and the first 10 posts are all suggestions he's seen rehashed every week for the past three years, I assure you he's going to stop looking and he's definitely not going to look at your posts, of that I assure you

Consider this a friendly verbal warning to all parties involved.
