The game will start but i cannot see any of the game

So I have been recently increasing my ram usage to play with friends so I upped the amount of ram I used for the game in the settings. I am not sure if this is related but this is the only thing I did to affect the game on my end. So to describe my point it starts and runs but it proceeds to adjust the screen like I'm about to go full screen and then doesn't. It then wont allow me to view the game but I hear that it is running in the background and by using the alternate launch it clearly is loading the game like normal. Any help appreciated!

Try going to the C:\Users\YourUserName\Zomboid folder and edit the options.ini file.

In that file, edit the fullscreen=true line to fullscreen=false

Then try launching the game again.

Me and my friends I have this exact same problem on Linux. This can be fixed by disabling steam overlay but doing so makes you unable to join multiplayer games with invite as alt tabbing kills the game. Please help.

Have you tried joining eachothers games through flatpak steam instead? Sometimes I will join games with an invite through the separate flatpak steam client instead of the overlay.
