Crash: nvlddmkm.sys failed thread exception not handled

The game sometimes crashes when loading or exiting. Happens on the tutorial as well. This results in Windows crashing with following error: thread exception not handled; nvlddmkm.sys failed. I uninstalled Nvidia drivers and reinstalled with the current driver version.

That would specifically be a Nvidia crash and likely not related to the game having issues. Do you perhaps have multiple monitors? Since that may cause the display to crash as well depending on your settings.

I am currently playing it on native resolution (1080p) on a laptop no extra monitors. It just seems weird since 6 months ago it wouldn’t have this issue. Other games work fine.

There were several driver updates between the 6 months. You may try rolling back the driver back a version in that case.

I rolled back to Nvidia Driver version 516.94 (August 9th). This helped fixed the issue (tested it thoroughly). Thanks for your help. I hope Nvidia can release more compatible drivers for the game in the future. For anyone else using this as a possible solution, keep in mind that Nvidia or Windows could try to auto-update drivers.
