After installing the 41.77.7 update from GOG (Linux) I'm immediately "greeted" by an Error in the main screen. The console output is as follows:

./projectzomboid.sh

I don't mind the change to port forwarding but I've gotta say, if that's what it took to get a good multiplayer connection back when I started the game I think I would've passed it by. We're an older audience now and many of us might be on the tech savvier side (what with the enormous modding community), but it might be a hurdle for uber casuals who pick it up for the first time and just want to play with a friend or two.

Especially if they are using the same ridiculous multi-router setup that I'm using, with an equally ridiculous provider who made me configure everything through their own barely-functional app. So glad to be done with this headache (not TIS' fault of course, but something I wanted to voice).

Does anyone know, if the host doesn't open for direct connection, is network performance the same or worse than it was before the change? My main server felt it was worse but we also added some new big mods around that time

Hi,

Unfortunately there is a problem with the server freezing due to a memory error. The VM has 16G memory but the game just uses 8G memory. The server is a serious DELL running ESXi. I run a VM with a ubuntu server and the game runs on it. If you need any information, let me know.

Thanks!
Br, David

Hey, did you make sure to update the ProjectZomboid64.json to allow the server to actually use more memory?

If you havent you'll need to update the -Xmx flag in Zomboid/ProjectZomboid64.json. The default is indeed 8G.
