"Unofficial" PZ Manual - *UPDATED*

EreWeGo

Question

*UPDATE* Hey all! I've updated my manual a bit, to reflect some of the recent changes in the Steam Early Access release, including combat changes and additions, Challenge modes etc. Although a manual may be a bit redundant with Spiffo's "Zomboid Survival Manual" now in the game, and the inevitable tutorials that will eventually be added, I thought it may still come in handy for some. Here's the new link:

PS: Apologies for any typos or errors, it's a work in progress! :)

Original Post:

Thought I'd re-post this here in the new forums! :-D

Hey all,

I've created an "UNOFFICIAL" manual for Project Zomboid, mainly to assist those new to the game, and might help in the interim before the Kate and Baldspot story/tutorial are back in.

NOTE: The details in the manual are fairly up-to-date, but as PZ is still in active development, anything in the guide is subject to change etc. Apologies for any errors, I'll try and update it as necessary. (*EDIT* This was made before the "Last Stand" mode and some other additions were added. Will update the manual at some stage and re-upload)

*UPDATE*: Anyone wanting to assist translating the manual into other languages, p.m. me or post an interest in this thread...Thanks!

*NOTE* For a manual/guide that goes into deeper detail on certain aspects of the game, such as Character customisation, Farming, Building, tactics and strategies etc, I can HIGHLY recommend you check out TinnedEpic's "Epic Survival Guide" here:

Top stuff. Does this have a page on the PZ wiki? Also just noticed you're in Tauranga. Kia ora hoa!

Cheers DrummerKidJack! Note sure about being mentioned on the PZ Wiki, (or should I say "Yeah, nah")  ;-)

Isn't making a manual for a game in Alpha a bit. um, I don't know unneeded? Don't get me wrong the guide is awesome, but it's more work for you when the dev's are constantly updating and changing things.

Possibly, and yes, it's definitely more work for me with changes etc, (for example, I haven't updated the manual for things like Last Stand mode yet).

The tutorial stuff and tooltips will hopefully be back in soon, so eventually this manual may well become redundant.

Having said that, I saw a need for something like this, (and seems to have been useful for a lot of people), and it was my way of helping the PZ community. I know game manuals are fast becoming a thing of the past, (man I remember some of the manuals that came with some of my old Amiga games back in the day - they were like a bloody Encyclopaedia!  :-D ), but there are still some who like having a guide/manual they can browse/read when not in-game, (well, at least I do anyway).

When it's obvious having a manual is redundant, then I'll probably not bother updating, we'll see.  :-)

I have not download the file yet, but is it just me, or is the picture I see in your post from about a few mondoids back?

I could be mistaken tho, good work nonetheless for posting this. :D

Never noticed to be honest! Might be "similar", but all the screenshots I took myself. The manual does use the same style/format as the web site, (did this by design), I wanted to keep in the same "theme". Thanks for the comments! :)

I have downloaded and read the whole manual, liked it actually nothing I didn't know but new people would highly benefit this. One thing though I think you should have 1-2 pages dedicated to hints and tips that you have found out or strategies. Or maybe even a personal section where you put your guide in, as in what you do to survive.

Cheers mate, appreciate the feedback! :-)

I have thought about a "quick tips" type section, or a "how to survive your first day" type thing - might add something like that in with the next update, thanks for the suggestions. (clyde)

*UPDATE*

I've updated my manual, and you will find the new link here, as well as in the original post. It contains various updates, to reflect recent changes in the Steam Early Access release. It's still a work in progress, but may be of help to some, especially new users. Here's the link:
