Please define EXE4J_JAVA_HOME

Question

Hi, I heard about PZ quite a while ago but I just started wanting to play today after I watched my favorite live streamer play it.

I'm trying to run 2.9.9.10

I doubleclicked ProjectZomboid64.exe but a terminal came up and disappeared isntantly, so I tried running it from terminal and I got this java error.

D:\Project Zomboid v2.9.9.10>ProjectZomboid64.exeNo JVM could be found on your system. Please define EXE4J_JAVA_HOMEto point to an installed 64-bit JDK or JRE or download a JRE from www.java.com.D:\Project Zomboid v2.9.9.10>java -versionjava version "1.8.0-ea"Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0-ea-b100)Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.0-b42, mixed mode)
Running Win7 64bit

What do?

hmmm, okay, I posted this in another thread:

try downloading these batch files, place them in your main PZ directory, and start the game using wither the 32bit or 64bit batch file. When the game crashes, even if you close the main window, the command window will stay open, so you should be able to see the last error message or details in the command window:

PZ-BatFiles.zip (720 bytes)

Might give you a bit more info on what the exact error is

The first thing to try would be to reinstall Java at a guess, from nasKo's Tech FAQ:

Reinstall/Update Java
Sometimes your Java installation may end up being corrupted and/or out of date. To fix this, uninstall Java. Once it’s removed from your system. try reinstalling it.
Java can be downloaded/updated via the Java Download page :
http://www.java.com/...load/manual.jsp

Then, if you're still having issues, have a good look through the rest of the Tech FAQ:
