Mods Don't Show Up

Hi all,
I'm new to this game and had tried to install t he lockpicking mod and the tommyguns mod, I have placed them both in the correct folder but they don't seem to show up in game, is this just because i'm playing through Steam?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm loving this game atm.

For the sake of argument, what is the folder that you placed the mods into?

E:\Steam\SteamApps\common\ProjectZomboid\mods
I placed them in here, as far as i know thats right.

Try: C:\Users\%YourUsername%\Zomboid\mods

following the instructions given by staystoned for the Apocalypse Plus mod, i have yet to find anything that is supposed to be included.

these are the instructions in the Read Me:

 

    **********INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS**********

First, take the Reloading folder inside the ApocalyspePlus folder and cut and paste it into;  

    C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/SteamApps/common/ProjectZomboid/media/lua

Replace all the files with the new ones I provided, (Stormy made some changes to it for me in the forums) the old ones have lots of bugs.

Put the ApocalypsePlus folder into;

    C:/User/Zomboid/mods

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

 

i've done all that, so now i'm stumped. any idea if maybe certain changes in the updates would prevent a mod from working?
