Modding NPC (survivor) behavior?

Hi there!

 

Is there possible to mod survivor behavior? I haven't seen references to NPC. 

 

I'm familiar with Java code, and lua scripts does look understandably to me.

Hard to say yet, since NPCs aren't in the game it's unknown how much of the system will be in the engine Java code (moddable in theory but requires a lot of pain) and how much on the Lua scripting side (much nicer, and properly supported).

Even in older versions of the game? (where there are NPC?)

 

Should I wait until the NPC are back?  Or do you think it is possible to try modding NPC behaviour with older version of the game? (If older version are available).

The older versions are not officially available anywhere, and there's been a massive engine reworking since then. The last version with NPCs in came out about 1.5 years ago. I doubt anything you would do with the old versions would be in any way useful or relevant for current code.

I'll just be patient and re-ask in a few months. 

You may not even need to wait a few months. Hopefully, the NPCs will be out within a few weeks. For all I know, NPCs could be released in the next update. 

To answer your question though, I'd imagine that NPC behavior could be modded. Not sure how easy it will be to do it.

This is extremely unlikely as NPC work was entirely on ice during the run-up for Steam release, and the devs are only now getting back to it. Had they been only a couple of weeks away from getting NPCs into a workable state, they would most likely have squeezed it in already, seeing as it is one of the game's key elements.

Well, I don't think they would want to "squeeze it in" when they've just released to steam. The IS team seems to never want any bugs to exist ever. However, I didn't know they completely stopped working on NPCs considering the amount of mondoids relating to them.
