Best Safehouse?

Hello there!

I'm at the wooden house in the middle of the image. It's really really reaally quiet and some decent looting possibilities closeby. And there's a lot of trees which always come in handy :)

Edit: I'm in for 2 months now and have not spotted one zed.

That's weird. One of my first safe houses on the new maps was in the white house at the bottom left corner of that screen shot, and I ended up getting totally overrun. A helicopter meta-game event brought an enormous horde up that road and as I slept a few nights later they all decided there was a party in my kitchen and everyone was invited.

That's really weird.. I'm actually considering moving because I find it's too boring.. I've never heard a helicopter over my house though, I did hear a few gunshots but they brought nothing with them. Guess I'll just have to wait a bit longer for them to come over lol

Have fun!

I switched to this place with my newest character.  Though I was giving considerable thought to Courtman Medical (3 blocks over to the SW).  I started off the the subdivision two blocks south west and worked my way around, clearing out the zombies as best I could. I recall other peeps posting about the location and have decided to give it a go.  Right now I have barricade the place about 75% and have a good supply of food.  I can start up a farm (I actually have a trowl, watercan and plenty of seeds) but the axe eludes me.  I am not going to lay in crops if I can't put some sort of modest wall about the place.

I found an axe in the small storage facility, but it's quite the walk.

Anyway, good luck!

I lost this one due to a game crash two days in (I play Sandbox where 12 hours = 24 hours).  I had a wall merged into the house and shed, then down to the street.  I had it barricades, rain barrels in front of the windows and STOCKED for supplies.  I finally found an axe, the quickly found two more (Zed had one and the other was a trailer to the SE).  Nails were becoming the real issue, though I had cleared out two blocks to the west (just past Courtman Medical), one block to the north and the entire trailer part to the SE.

I was giving some serious though to making Courtman Medical a safehouse and using a rope to get in and out.  It looks like a bomb daddy location due to the construction, limited entrances and lots of land for crops + a partial wall the NE.  Trees are a bit thin, so hauling wood becomes a must.  However, this place seemed like Zed Central.  You clear out the area, enter the building, alarm goes off, exit the building and finx a place to wait out the claxons.  You then go back and clear it out again.... and again.... and again.

Some of the nice homes nearby look good to..

Seems to be an upper class of Zed :P

I spawned in the bottom right house in my current game.  It was stocked full of goodies.  The problem is the neighborhood is full of zombies.  And I assume looting the houses in the neighborhood will set off alarm central.

The large warehouse sure is nice. I built a sideways home on the outside, with a backyard garden and a frontyard. Also installed water barrels all over the top of the large warehouse. everyday consists of cutting down some logs, refurbishing, planting food, going off a bit to loot some stuff....and lo, i lasted a month already on my third play on survival. yay

I have been living in the second floor of the big school in West Point for a fair bit of time.

I can't find farming equipment anywhere, however I am blessed with a years worth of canned food scavenged from the nearby houses and enough butter knives to last me a month, not counting my surplus of crowbars, hammers and axes.

Zombies don't even reach the second floor.

im in the house right outside the fence, east side of it.  Its actually a great house.  Im not boxed in on all sides like I would be if I was inside the fence, but I do have 2 directions I Never have to worry about zombies comming from due to the fence and the forest.

Crepes was a good place for food, logging camp was good for tools.

The Tavern's only real downside is how far it is from everything but the gigantic warehouse outside of town. It's also near a diner and two smaller warehouses, but the great thing about it is how easy it is to fortify. There's already some storage crates n stuff so storage is no problem. There are 6 rooms upstairs each with a cot, and it has two bathrooms and two fridges. There's a lot of grass out front for farming and zombies don't wander out that far. Sometimes they wait for you to enter town though...

the two story house with the fence around it North East of the first trailer park is usually my favorite. Good looting with the houses nearby and the warhouse is an easy walk to the north.

this the one?

http://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php/topic/3949-ideas/ motel + my plans for future and http://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php/topic/3918-my-first-real-safehouse/ this also is pretty good. The warehouses that FJ45 mentioned are also very good spots and so is the police station cell and Cortman medical. I personally think the hotel is bad and twiggis bar is overrated but the gun store is good if you don't wreck the bars too much

Normally I don't play in Muldraugh much, however I have a very favored place, which I've been at about a week now (Only discovered it recently :P)

Is very nice. It has some issues to it, albeit quite minor ones. My positives to it are: Two story (So plenty of abilities to escape), a wide grassland to farm and fortify around it, somewhat nearby to the river, and close to some large residential homes. However, when I went there (This is from my game, not sure if it applies to all) it was fairly surrounded by zombies. Around 10, which wasn't a problem at first. Some do accumulate from time to time though.

That looks like a great safehouse. Might try that when I start in West Point.

Is absolutely brilliant.. You have tree's nearby.. You're already partially surrounded and if you need to go on supply run. Just run along the field to the top left

http://pzmap.crash-override.net/#0.5453142279273564,0.1898055711548287,33.1776

You have the warehouse to get all the required stuff such as nails and seeds and blah blah blah.

I mean i've had helicopters hovering around and only got 1 or two walkers coming at me.. Thats it.. The houses you can destroy the doors for the handles and knobs to build the door and there ya go

Yes, that spot is quite well known. Great safehouse spot.

I've been holing up here in my current game (first serious(ish) game in West Point too):

http://pzmap.crash-override.net/#0.8102639036953753,0.12572501309758227,141.77364132330158

Lack of an axe and saw is absolutely killing me though. I lucked out and found a trowel two houses down.

This place good to stay in, or should I uproot and move to greener pastures sometime soon? The areas with two story houses to the south and west are absolutely crawling everytime I check.

Oh, and my abortive run to Twiggys and the Gun Shop resulted in some thoroughly browned trousers. Gigamart CRAWLS big time.

My current run is in WP and I am slowing cutting a path to Gigamart.  I have solidified a bolt hole and I am working on my fort right now.  I love love to get some screen shots of that place.  I envision it is going to look like...
