Disconnection Dilemma

I am repeatedly being disconnected from my friends Steam server.

 

My friend running the same version of the game as me, is hosting a PZ server for our friend group to play on. Two of our friends were on it with him, and when I try to play with them, I am repeatedly losing connection to the server. This issue does not affect anyone else on the server. Usually I can only be on the server, in actual gameplay, for a few seconds before being disconnected. I have a good internet connection, with 500Mb/s download speeds. While trying to join the server, I was in a Discord voice chat with them with 19 ms.

Another time I experience this issue is when I have created a character, and press "play". The vast majority of the time, when I do this, it plays the music, but it doesn't show the intro text, instead it displays in red letters "Connection to the server was lost". All of this happens when I try to join my friends server. I have never tried to join a server not hosted by this friend. Also, we both just got the game so I haven't played multiplayer before trying to play with these friends. I am able to play single-player perfectly fine.
