Forage for fibrous plants > twine > attach things to spears/ repair fishing rod

Was watching my buddy play B41. He was blasted by the crazy amounts of duct tape you need to attach things to spears (also that it isn't renewable).

He also noticed while foraging for sticks that you got chipped stones, and assumed you could combine them to make a crafted spear. I broke his excitement and said "you can't, and you'd probably need duct tape to attach it anyways" and he said "just use some fibrous plants, if cavemen could do it I don't see why this guy can't".

Fair point, and so here's the related suggestion lol.

Honestly twine should be able to attach things to spears already. It would also make 'fishing line' a renewable resource.

The suggestion is valid and may still happen. Until then, there is a mod "Primitive Survival" that gives you more options for making twine and rope as well as expanding on what you can do with foraged materials. After that there is a "Spears: Twine and Leather Binding" mod that does as advertised.

I always find it rewarding when modders have the option to fill the gaps where the devs just don't have the time.

Spears are still pretty new give them some time. I'm sure they plan to add the ability to find something like Tall Grass that you can dry. From there you'd probably have to cut it into pieces and twist it into twine. 3 Twine into a rope. Makes sense with the tech level and is renewable like you said. Twine and Leather Strips should be usable in spear crafting, and Ropes should be an alternative to Sheet Rope. Hopefully then they can make sheetropes able to snap while climbing or something.
