Ui improvements and vehicle features

UI opacity option in the menu would be a game changer, no need for the background to be so dark that you can't see your surroundings.

Could we also have a hud scale option?

Any chance we could get the game to remember window positions?
Every time I do a new character the inventory windows pop in default positions, and it's a hassle. Especially with splitscreen.

Spare tire space that works like an extra inventory storage, accessable through the trunk. Holds spare tire or usable as an extra storage, if you take out the tire.

Add Radiator as a part to vehicles that has coolant fluid you gotta manage or you end up causing wear to your engine.

On winter you have to add antifreeze on it or you might break your engine completely.
When crashing into things, let it be zombies or trees, you should do damage to your radiator.

Damage to your radiator should cause leaking of coolant, leaving puddles of coolant behind when you drive which sizes varies by the level of damage, giving you a good visual indication.

Completely broken radiator cant hold water at all.

Driving long time with either low coolant level or too damaged radiator would cause your car to overheat, giving a nice fog type effect from under the bonnet.

It could have it's own temperature system, or just a scripted amount of wear on the engine.

And to combat the effect,  Vehicle modding.

Picture this, you gotta push through a zombie infested city. You pull up on a fully stocked garage and managed to find some good parts, for your quite possibly the final trip, and get to work.
Bull bar to avoid some collision damage to engine and front end of your car, with an option to wrap barbed wire or weld some sort of spikes on it on it for extra damage.

Boltable roof lighting, requiring mechanic and electrical  skill of 1 both.

Vehicle mods you could craft with metalworking skill:

Armored windows:

You could weld sheet metal over your windows requiring sheet metal per window, two for windshield.

There's three versions depending on your tools available and your metalworking skill

- closed shut

            - cant see anything through that window

            - cant put as windshield

            - impossible to shoot through or drop items to ground

            - zombies have no chance of getting through to you from that window

 - drilled holes you drill small holes to the sheet metal for some visibility

            - limits your vision a little, like nearsighted perk

            - impossible to shoot through
            - takes more damage then plain window and less then just closed shut before breaking

            - works as an open window so heat gets out and it might rain in

 - gunnerhole you saw in the middle

             - reducts your vision arc to much smaller, leaving zombies a better chance to creep up on you when you exit your vehicle

             - can shoot through with reduced accuracy

             - takes much more damage than drilled one but less than wide shut

             - works as an open window so heat gets out and it might rain in

             - zombies could cause reduced damage to you through the hole

Roof bar:

You either find one or weld together a custom a roof bar for your car.
Works as an inventory but any crashing, sudden stops and bumbs may drop items if it isn't tied on using some sort of cargo straps, rope, sheet rope.

You could also place furniture and crafted boxes on it to create more secure and managed stashed.

On the vehicle modding, there's been placeholder art shown off quite a while ago but it gives the idea of what it'd be like presumably (when) it comes:

Behind the scenes there’s currently a lot of conversation about revamps of existing systems (farming, last week’s thoughts on polishing the power outage etc) but something else we’re discussing are ‘survival-style’ skill and recipe-based enhancements to vehicles. To which end, we thought we’d float this image of our potential direction with this in front of the community – to gauge opinion and gather some feedback.

Please note that this is NOT a final representation – it requires a full art pass, not to mention a lot of coding work that will likely come from General Arcade’s Yuri for a future build. It does, however, show how a modular model system could work – and we’d like your thoughts on it.

Like MadDan said, armored cars are coming some point in the not too distant future.

These are cool ideas forsure. I imagine all the Dash make vehicles would come with a spare tire slot. The Elite and Rancher should even have it appear on the back visually! All the Vans would also support this functionality, with perhaps an extra spare slot on the inside as well. These inside slots could function like normal storage and allow you to place anything, but be perfectly sized for the weight of the Vehicle Type Tire. The outside slots would have to be accessed through the radial menu.

As for Radiators, I'm all for it. It's realistic, makes a lot of sense, and adds another resource required for long term car maintenance. Currently, vehicles are pretty OP especially since fuel is infinte atm. Obviously parts and Mechanics skill make things hard, but needing Engine Coolant and Antifreeze would just make them a little harder to keep up with. I wouldn't be surprised if the only reason they haven't added them yet is because they are waiting for Armored Vehicle Mods to be implemented. Radiators damage easily, and having to replace it ALL the time would be more annoying than immersive. Now, if breaking it all the time drove you to getting an Armored Fender or a Snowplow of some kind to protect your radiator and up your DPS when driving, that would be awesome progression. If they do add this, please devs make Antifreeze drinkable like bleach is. With enough of it getting you drunk, but also poisoning you.

Add bullbars, undercarriage protection, and plows that are designed to prevent zombies from getting under wheels. Metal bars over windows are all that is realistically needed armor plates are far too heavy and unnecessary. My ideal zombie apocalypse vehicle wouldn't be a tank or armored vehicle, it would be some reliable 4x4 with something that prevents my vehicle from taking damage just driving down a crowded highway. A snowplow pickup with metal slats covering the windows is all that is needed against zombies for day to day use.
