I've created a proposal for the wiki and looking for feedback.

So as of right now, if you flick over to the dedicated pages for items of the wiki you'll probably notice a couple of things. Mainly a lot of red links for items and some redirecting back into the items page. This ain't particularly stellar as of right now, so I'm going to be proposing an idea that was actually brought up a while ago. If I'm not mistaken, it was done by Crazy ManMan and at the time I was not particularly fond on the idea. Not sure why, I just let it fester and die.

The idea of it is to have multiple items in one page. Technically we have a page on the wiki that already does this: http://pzwiki.net/wiki/Skill_Books

If you want another example, one of the Minecraft wiki pages shows what we would be going for: http://minecraft.wikia.com/wiki/Rose

With this method it would mean that we wouldn't have to worry about stub pages too much and actually have some decently fleshed out pages for items. The layout would probably work out to have some basic information about the item plus one of the info boxes for the item. We wouldn't have code on the page (we phased it out a while ago, but code still remains on some items pages.) We would still have some dedicated item pages and for now, in order for the item to qualify for a dedicated Item page is if it's used or is the result of crafting in Project Zomboid. Should this be to wide of a net, we might reduce the pages to comply with what I've just been proposing. I would prefer to get some feedback before setting this in stone. Should the overall response be negative, we'll pull the proposal and consider the matter closed. We're going to have split discussions here and on the TIS forums as well. So you can choose which to respond to, if you wish to respond at all.

Look forward to hearing some thoughts. :D

Feel free to respond here or on the wiki.

I think the multiple items on a single page would be a good idea, so skill books all on one page then all weapons on another page etc. It would have to be nicely labelled so people can skip to the thing they want quickly. So for example, the weapons page could have a section for Melee Weapons and a section for Guns or something like that and a contents list at the top with links to each of these sections would be good so that people can quickly navigate to the section they want :). Just my idea on this. A PZ Wiki is an awesome idea. Can't wait to see it fully functional :).

There are always secrets... Beware the kitten for once you open the cupboard door, hell shall be unleased as a torrent of acrid carpentry bile, with -one could say- automatonic fervor...

((Wonder if the "Invasion" has a page in the wiki...))

@kirrus: Ah no worries Kirrus I doubt he meant insult. :)

@Slendy: I prefer to think of myself as utterly and absolutely tree friendly and cfc free.

You know.. I'll be professional about this.. Viceroy you are one hell of a guy.

Pretty professional if you ask me.

@Kirrus - It wasn't meant as a insult.. mainly a compliment.. odd is good.

Now I know all your durty secrets.

I guarantee you don't even know half of the dirty secrets, that involve this place.

There must be hundreds of secrets.

Sorry for my "quality quirk"... (I'm from Germany.. no sorry bad joke :'D)

Can you please make a Multilanguage Wiki? like from Wikipedia?

It's cleaner (no languagebox and links to other article have the actual set language) .. and no this charged not a webserver, you can run the "installations" for each language one database with prefix installation (wiki, de_wiki, fr_wiki)

It is better you use always the actually mediawiki version for this step (1.21->1.23.5)

or the simplest and best: you make a wiki on gamepedia.com for us :)

Anyone have enough clue about templates to figure out what's wrong with the recipe template(s) right now? You can see the issue on the page for bread for example. It seems like one of Demwilson's edits around 14th-15th broke it, but I can't figure it out well enough to fix it.

Also PZWiki doesn't seem to like loading larger diffs (example: http://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Template:RecipeLookup&diff=prev&oldid=22946) which makes sorting it out rather difficult. As far as I can see there's legitimate work in the edits so I'd rather not just revert it completely...

Edit: thanks to Krazitron on IRC for bringing it up

Edit 2: according to BryBry, it's probably the missing }} after Cooking Level 0 for recipe 2036 (http://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Template%3ARecipeLookup&diff=22948&oldid=22379), but I can't even open that diff or save the RecipeLookup template after editing, the server seems to be giving 500 internal server error.

That's a weird one, Kirrus will need to know about it since he's the one who deals with server issues for the wiki.

Right now even trying to load http://pzwiki.net/ gives a proper server error page for code 503 (XID: 1457689669 for exampleafter loading for exactly one minute. Same for every other URL on PZWiki I try. One random example: http://pzwiki.net/wiki/Tent_kit

Previously, to trigger the effect, it was sufficient to open the following URL for example: http://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Template%3ARecipeLookup&diff=22948&oldid=22379
After a minute or so server responded with HTTP status 500, not even serving an error page for it.

It was repeatable with most diffs from http://pzwiki.net/wiki/Special:RecentChanges and only ones with relatively small diff sizes seemed to load properly.

For contrast the actual template page, http://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:RecipeLookup loaded fine. So did the template edit page http://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Template:RecipeLookup&action=edit but when trying to save the template the connection timed out without a proper response from the server.

Also it seemed whenever the server was doing an operation that'd cause a hang, like loading any of the aforementioned pages, it'd stop serving any other pages from the wiki until the previous operation had timed out.

Edit: note the timeout takes exactly one minute.

Hello all!

I hope you're all having fun with the new builds :) We've certainly gathered a nice long list of new bugs to squish, thanks for all the reports, it's helpful!

Our official(ish) wiki http://pzwiki.net, which we host, but don't currently curate (we've not got the time unfortunately), has gotten a little out of date again.  If some of you would be willing to invest a little time in expanding the wiki it would help us tremendously, anything that can be done to make the learning curve easier for our new zombie fighters would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you! <3

I can't add information because everything on every page of wiki has editing disabled.
