41.17 Screen and Keyboard Freezes but character still moving even after quit/reload

On a mac

 

I can hear my dude continuing to walk into a horde of zombies as they rip him apart. The game is playing but thinks I'm still holding down the 'D' key and doesn't respond to any additional input. Tabbing out and force quitting seems to save the game and when I reload the screen is still frozen and the game picks back up, D key still held down, screen still frozen, guy still getting ripped apart.
