duanethebathtub
In my current MP game with a friend, it is the middle of January (temp is below 0). The server settings are on the "coldest" setting and the farms are still producing food. We have so much food (loot set on low) I can't see us ever running out. Kind of takes away the "food challenge". This is the furthest we have played a game. Does this seem right?
Swagger
it doesn't seem that strange to me tbh, potatoes grow all year round in real life and can grow in very cold conditions. Are all crops growing or just certain ones?
Myssiv
Well there’s your problem right there. If you actually want a challenge you’ll need to set loot to rare or extremely rare.
Moloch Horridus
Potato plants don't grow around the year in cold climates, but you can harvest the tubers during the winter before they start generating shoots to grow new potato plants. duanethebathtub
I thought the same thing... that winter shouldn't produce any (or very poor/little) crops and it should be a struggle. Once I have a harvest or two in, there is no longer any food struggles. I have my game set to "very cold" and it is and it's down to -10 to -20 temps and the crops are still growing. Is this maybe part of the "natures bounty" setting or does this need to be balanced more?
Zombie#24
I just build a greenhouse for my crops in winter. Then keep the fires going in the winter for my crops.
Magic Mark
Crops are already balanced to grow poorly in winter, as-is in the game mechanics. If they are near a fire, this is a potential solution to fixing that. I don't really see the issue personally, you can set the amount of food loot even lower than that. EnigmaGrey
We do plan on doing seasonal crops .etc. at a later date, so this'll eventually be taken care of (outside of growing things indoors or maybe winter, cover-style, crops appropriate for Kentucky).
