Got the game today and have been unable to get it running. first problem was related to microphone detection and nahimic (the standard software for MSI machines) and now i have an error on loading into a game that quotes the problematic frame as fmod64.dll.

Okay. I hate to say it, but I don't have any good suggestions for it, outside of updating your sound card drivers  (they can be hard to find, but sometimes you get lucky). We've had it come up a few times, but have yet to be able to reproduce it / trace the problem.  If you need help finding the driver, go to the Start menu, type dxdiag.exe in and select it from the list. Once it loads, take a screenshot of each Sound tab and upload it here.

You can also try unplugging all USB devices aside from mouse and keyboard. At least once,  a driver issue with a USB headset caused the crash.

If none of that helps, there'll be a full crash file in %ProgramFiles(x86)%\Steam\steamapps\common\ProjectZomboid. It starts with err. You can drag and drop it to the bottom of your reply to upload it to the forum. It should give us some more details.

Finally, what build are you running? Version number will be in the lower right-hand corner of the main menu, if you're getting that far.

Build is: 39.67.5 (steam)
I only have a mouse plugged in (via a laptop cooler) as I am using the keyboard built into my laptop.

Just tried it again to get a fresh error log and it has changed to ntdll.dll as the problem... this was one error that came up before the fmod one.

It seems to alternate from fmod64.dll to ntdll.dll and back again each time it crashes. At this time the crash occurs after clicking to continue from the loading screen.

hs_err_pid10216 (30_10 err4 ntdll).log

hs_err_pid15588 (29_10 err3 fmod).log

hs_err_pid18228 (29_10 err2 ntdll).log

hs_err_pid19364 (29_10 err1 fmod).log
