Crash to desktop - java error messages

Zyklon-M

Question

Hello! Some crash issues with the interim 64 build through steam. I will try and share as much info that I can, please tell me if you need more still.

* The interim 64 steam-build brings me to the menu but the lightning comes in slow motion (takes about 15 seconds for Baldspot and Kate to go dark again). At the second lightning strike the game crashes to desktop without a warning.

* The interim 64 build compability mode crashes to desktop after about 2 seconds.

I found a textfile labeled hs_err_pid4324, that contained the following message:

# A fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime Environment:
#
#  EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005) at pc=0x000000000dcb11a0, pid=4324, tid=4476

I also found a textfile labeled output, with the following message:
WARNING: Found unknown Windows version: Windows 7
Attempting to use default windows plug-in.
Loading: net.java.games.input.DirectAndRawInputEnvironmentPlugin

I also found a textfile labeled error, created yesterday:

"The computer does not fulfill the minimum requirements of this program".

Would these help ? (search engines are useful for that matter :P)

They're talking about downloading/using an EXE file instead of a ZIP, is that what you did ?

Yeah, I checked these out before. Tried to install both the exe and the zip, withh the same resut. Even tried to install it through the device driver

... Hey! I just tried the new beta update and the game works perfectly on 32-bit compability mode now. Guess the new update solved my problems, whatever they were. Thank you for your help. All of you! :)

Hi,

For the EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION :

http://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php/topic/1408-unable-to-start-pz-fatal-error-detected-by-java/

( apparently not solved, but gives hints : GPU drivers & java 32-bit, or worst case your hardware is really too old )

For WARNING: Found unknown Windows version: Windows 7

http://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php/topic/1584-new-steam-version-down

For java.io.FileNotFoundException: C:\Users\Martin\Documents\Zomboid\mods\loaded.txt (Unable to find path)

Weird the file's not here. Should get you through if you just create a blank text file (loaded.txt in C:\Users\Martin\Documents\Zomboid\mods\ directory) ; basically this file stores the id of the mods that are loaded when you start the game.

Hi all!

harakka// Hey! I think you are onto something here. That's probably it. Still, I may have bigger issue here.
When I try to update the Intel driver through the device driver I am told I already have the latest version.
The version I have installed was released 2013-01-30, version 8.15.10.2993.
While checking out the Intel download center I found out that the latest version is actually version 15.28.18.64.3223, released 2013-08-18. But! When trying to install it I get an error that roughly translates into english as follows:
"The computer does not fulfill the minimum requirements of this program".

My OS is Windows 7 home premium 64-bit.
The processor is Intel® Core i5 CPU, M 480  @ 2.67GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.7GHz

What seems to be the problem?
(If this gets solved, a problem with another game will probably be solved too)

1) There are left-over error files from the Steam installation (such as pid4324). It's better to just delete them all, try the game again, then get the actual error.
2) Warning: Found unknown Windows version: Windows 7 is normal. It's a result of packaging controller support with the game andi is not an actual error.

3) Should be created on Project Zomboid's start for the first  time. Perhaps previously installed mods in the %username%\zomboid folder are preventing this?
