Can't reach main menu

I can't seem to launch the game anymore.  I haven't played in a couple of versions, but I used to be able to play fine.

When I click play in the steam library, I get the MSDOS console.  Some text scrolls by too fast to really read and then the screen goes black like it used to when it worked.  But then after 15-20 seconds it just crashes back to desktop.  I never get the title screen.

I tried reinstalling the game.  I was able to play one session.  When I tried to boot the game up again the next day, I had the same problem I did before the reinstall.

Go to the installation directory of the game by right clicking on Project Zomboid and selecting Properties in the Steam game library then press the Browse Local Files button shown here: http://i.imgur.com/PFy0kmJ.png

While you have these options open, disable the Steam overlay in the General tab.

Find the ProjectZomboid32.bat file (blue gears for an icon, not a red and black egg) and double click it. Once (if) the game crashes, take a screenshot of the console and upload it to imgur.com, linking it here. This will hopefully tell us what's wrong. =)

Above that is several dozen console entries about things loading successfully.

I think it might be a hydrocraft problem, but I don't know how to turn hydrocraft off without being able to get in-game.
