Won't launch, compatibility mode and normal.

Question

I had the issue nearly everybody else has been having since the update bit before it found the beta solution I uninstalled all the VC+ updates and reinstalled the 2015 version. But of course the beta thing solved it... Well that problem anyway.

The game now launches but after loading lua and textures I just get a black screen.  I've disabled the Steam overlay and get same result.

Before the update I used to be able to run the the game in Compatibility mode but now I get "Projectzomboid64.exe has stopped working" as soon as I click to launch.  The black window doesn't have any messages, just the cursor which has frozen.

It's been months since I launched PZ on this system so no idea if it was the recent update that killed compatibility mode.

Any idea?

Specs

Vista 64bit

Q6700

8600gts

Thanks

David

Yip now loads! Could you explain what this does?

Thanks!!!

2x textures require more video-RAM to load into memory.  Compression also shrinks the existing tile's memory footprint.

This tends to be more of a problem on laptops than desktops, because the GPU usually has enough RAM to manage the textures itself.
