Mods are invisible

harakka is 100% right. The modloader uses a mod.info file to recognize mods. You could try your luck and make that file yourself BUT a fair warning, that this might cause many bugs and ruin your saves.

From my mods the Sleeping Overhaul is known to cause problems with 2.9.9.17 so I wouldn't use it. If you look into our modding section you will notice version numbers in the title like this [2.9.9.17]. Use it to determine which mods work for 2.9.9.17 and which don't ;)

Next full Steam beta should include a modloader which is more robust and handles item scripts, which is currently a bit of a blocker.  Once that's out, it will probably become a lot more common for mods to work correctly with the mod menu (if they support that current version).
