Porn Store

[sarcasm]But, yes!

Now weve got it!
Killing isnt a bad thing, you can kill a million survivors and zombies and not blink a single time!
Whats really bad, and the thing that turns people into mass murdering psychopaths is nudity!

War veterans have ptsd for a reason, they probably saw too many nude girls :o

Better go back to killing people and delete porn off the web, afterall I wanna stay nice and not become a terrorist or something.

Im totally fine with smashing survivors and zombies alikes brains in, sometimes just for the lulz. Atleast its not as bad as seeing a pair of heavily pixelated 32x32 breasts.

Ofcourse!

[/sarcasm]

Really now, here in germany you usually see alot, a WHOLE LOT of nudity in news tv and what not at like 12pm and 15 -16 pm.

Just yesterday at 17pm I saw some hot model go around street letting random people touch her /uncensored/ pair of breasts for fun on the same channel that shows the simpsons, the big bang theory and co just few minutes before and after.

Enlighten me how drugs and killing arent as bad as a porn store?

However, Im not for it because I think there arent any such stores in muldraugh.

Then again, I've sadly never been in the United Epicnesses of States of le america, let alone muldraugh :/.

I haven't seen a single person arguing that sexualizing video games causes violence or PTSD. I'm really not sure how to take your post- it's somewhat nonsensical to me.

People have a sort of stigma for sex and the like. While it may not be 'worse' than killing zombies (or even bad at all) it's not what people buy the game to see. They bought the game to kill zombies. Making a comparison between the two seems highly illogical to me.

topless zombie hookers are for not-serious zombie games. It's mostly there for the "dumb" audience, just like the whole "parody" or "comedy" zombie movie. I also doubt hookers would be walking around in their performance suits either during the apocalypse. A female NPC that had the profession of a "hooker"? Maybe, but for the purpose of having an additional boost to the "dialogue" modifiers with male NPCs. To have them walk around going "honey' I'm soo boned I could barely walk I need strong hands to.." - No. Project Zomboid ain't no comedy game, nor is it a fun one.

Some not-explicit lightly suggestive pictures on walls/journals? Sure, why not. Those may even serve in game purpose. Male NPC's in a group may occasionaly "go to the toilet" for some alone time, or throw one of these journals on the ground to distract a male NPC guard that you want to pass by (Metal Gear anyone?) Nothing too suggestive or way out of context though. That is - I don't want NPC males go "aaooh oaaahh aaaahaooooh" in those toilets, or anything stupidly similar to that.

If we want Project Zomboid to be adult game, let's not make it adult because of explicit and stupid "sexualizing" stuff, but rather be smart about it and implement it in a fair way. No "rubbing it in the face" way. Okay?

This.

I have absolutely no problem with sex in videogames. Shit, I'm all for making hardcore porn simulators and putting them on Steam.

However, I think putting sex into a game just for the sake of it is... cheap. It's misplaced. It adds nothing. It feels stupid to even look at.

A sex shop or a strip club does not require a massive amount of explicitness to convey the location's meaning, there are already suggestive posters and that level would work just fine for the purpose. And I suspect both types of places exist even in Kentucky, although probably not in Muldraugh.

As to why these types of locations are "necessary": they're not any more necessary than bars, tattoo parlors or bail bonds, or anything else you can think of really. They're just things that exist in the real world and convey the sense of being in a specific type of area.

Like I said; I wouldn't have any problem with it if it was implicit.

But my question to everyone behind this idea is what would it add that some other building couldn't do just as well? If even one person gets offended and nothing is gained then what's the point? If there's something to be gained (anything at all really) then I couldn't care less about offending people, but I'm just not sure there is.

It's more of an atmosphere thing. Speaking generally, these types of places are usually in seedier types of areas, and are in fact what often makes an area seedy in the first place, so having them helps create the character of an area. It's like my adding a pie shop to West Point: there's nothing to be gained *really* by having a pie shop; why not put a restaurant/grocery there instead? Having variety gives an area its "flavour" :)

Adding a strip club/porn shop/etc, provided it fits the theme of the area, and is done in an implicit, mildly humorous way, is more than fine in my opinion. Hell. It's got to be a sign of the Zombie Apocalypse when you're curled up in the back rooms of a porn shop, holding your breath as a horde shambles by. Humour? Perhaps the place had already been looted already by some survivors with different priorities to your own. Drama? For better or worse, such an establishment is pretty much a sign of civilisation, and seeing all the, er, pictures, could serve to underscore how alone a survivor feels. Utility? Some bottles of chemicals, certain edible objects, ropes, etc could be of use to a survivor. Dakka? Depending on how the neighbourhood is, the store might very well have a shotgun under the counter.

Hell, when I read the part about a strip club someone mentioned earlier, my immediate thoughts were the availability of food, the secure nature of the structure, potential for finding firearms, AND, of course, the possibility of using all the strobe lights and AV equipment to pull zombies :P

TL;DR - If the porn shop/strip club/etc fits the theme of the area, and can serve a role for the gameplay, by all means put it in. If it's for cheap laughs, probably don't bother.
