MyTJ
Genesis Some of you may have seen my Perma Base design "artwork" on steam, video is pending on me moving my rain barrels because I've chosen to downsize my crop size (way too much before). Problem is I can't pick them up before I empty them of water. There were 16 "large collector". How it work now Right now you can only fill containers and pour them on the ground. Turns out I need 13 bucket to empty a single barrel (the 13th one is not full). Added time of filling them up add up quickly even if I speed time on each "fill bucket". As stated before, it can't be picked up while there are water in it because it's treated as inventory. You also need to wait for a moment where it's not raining (and on very rainy setting... that may take some time). Suggestion The simplest and best way to deal with this issue would be to have a "pour on the ground" option for rain barrels, like any other water container. It's not that far fetched that you can tip the barrel over (but then it's not logical to need hammer + carpentry to move them in the first place...). Another alternative is that when you try to move the barrel it automatically drop it's water content. This would not be my best way to go about it, because some may complain they lost valuable water by not knowing the risk beforehand. Thus forcing to drain it first remain a good idea in my book, but it should be quick so that you can easily redo a base layout without spending tens of minutes filling buckets and pouring them on the ground. Pretty please I know this may not be a priority compared to other features (yes, including THAT feature). But I think it's an easy enough function to add that won't clutter the UI too much and allow a much better use of the "movable furniture" feature for rain barrels. Compared to them, any other container have not this issue as you could just transfer the inventory to the ground below you (or bags, wichever) rather quickly. mieksta, Scyoni, EnigmaGrey and 1 other
Scyoni
I like this. Just adding another menu option that says 'Empty' - clean, simple, functional. CaptKaspar and MyTJ
Okamikurainya
What about something like a "Water Barrel with Tap"? Like a keg in a bar? CaptKaspar

You can put waterbarrels one level above a sink (in a 3x3 area) and the sink will drain water from the barrels. MyTJ

It's good that you point that out since it's related to the barrel topic. Although I've read that once, my base was not designed according to this as I did not know that at the time. Plus there were 16 of them in 2x2 formations with 2 free spaces, so it would have required more then one sink of for it to be moved (so some time). Lastly, since I wanted to move the barrels to another location (redesigning the base layout a bit) it would have still required for me to fill buckets and pour them on the ground (unless I'm mistaken). 14 hours ago, Okamikurainya said: What about something like a "Water Barrel with Tap"? Like a keg in a bar? Cool idea that would justify the need for a hammer to move the barrel in the first place. But care as to be put to the expression used to avoid people getting mixed up. If they see "turn the tap on" and another filling option they may beleive that both would fill there containers. This may lead to discontent asking why is there that additional feature that made them loose water in a survival world where water is precious. I beleive that entry like "pour on the ground" or "empty" would be better. 8 hours ago, EnigmaGrey said: "Kick over waterbarrel" action? Pretty much what's involved in real life to pour it's content on the ground. It would be cool to actualy have an animation for that. Problem is I think it clashes with the barrel needing an hammer to move, thus I still suggest simpler options "pour on the ground" or "empty" as Scyoni suggested.
