Mouse Trap

I've searched the Wiki and other sources, including this forum and have been unable to get advise on how to set and place a Mouse Trap. All the typical actions, such as holding or equipping, clicking or placing it on the floor seem to do nothing.

 

Can someone please advise?

You need it in your main inventory, then rightclick on the ground somewhere and select "Place Trap".

I have done this, but it ends up on the ground with no bait.

 

How do I bait it once it is on the ground, since it isn't likely to catch a mouse or rat without bait?

Right click on the trap with something to bait it with in your main inventory (tomatoes or cheese work well).
