I'm a little surprised machetes are not on this list as they are probably a planned feature and a pretty common suggestion on this forum.

Just an question, no suggestion. (Lel, its Rhyme :D )

I believe it's been explained somewhere in this thread, but personal hygiene would turn the game into a micromanagement simulator, and zombie camo is just unrealistic with the lore(i.e. Max Brooks zombies).

I can answer this if you'd like, but the devs have actually done a much better job. If you search the forums for those things you can probably find the most satisfactory answers, as they've both come up multiple times.

More weapons

 

Right, then Bows and Crossbows could be in that category aswell.

Still, it's not a big deal, it's just that as you just told the other guy, Zomboid's lore it's greatly influenced by Brooks' books, and with the machete being Brooks' favorite blade weapon (as accounted in the Zombie Survival Guide), I don't know..

But anyways thanks for the reply, I'll stop nagging about it now.

Heya guys, I'm going to throw together a quick list of things that are commonly suggested and whether they've been mentioned by devs as tentative or no's. I'm going to be basing this off of a few threads in the old forum and the top of my head. If I miss any please mention it in the thread and I'll add it to the list.

 

Key

[n] - This is a confirmed 'No' from the development team. Please don't waste your time or ours reposting unless there's something relevant and new about it

[y] - This is confirmed 'Yes' from the development team. This is something the definitely want to see in the game, but this does not constitute a guarantee. Please don't post about it unless you have something new or relevant to add.

[m] - This is a 'maybe' from the dev team. It's something they've mentioned that they were interested in but we still don't know if it's a confirmed feature. Please don't post about it unless you have something new or relevant to add.

Everything else - everything not marked would be something overwhelmingly decided by the community or that's self-evident. If you feel it needs discussion bring it up here or in a thread if there's not already one out there.

 

The Big No's!

These are a list of things that are either vehemently opposed by the majority of the community, confirmed "no's" by the dev team, or impossible within the game as it is. I'm going to try to make this completely unbiased, but if you disagree with anything posted feel free to mention it. The most important ones are highlighted in red. If you take nothing else from this thread, please pay attention to these.

The only thing I wonder about is no sex. I was thinking more of a "You're in a very close relationship with another NPC, you're both attracted to each other, [insert scene where you two talk in a bedroom here], fade to black, wake up next morning happy and un-stressed.

 

I guess it doesn't fit the atmosphere?

It's sort of like child killing, in the sense that it's just awkward.

Just do a search on the old forum for "rape," and I think you'll get a rather fine understanding of why they don't want to touch this.

On the plus, drug use is fine!

Me parece muy interesante todo lo propuesto hasta ahora, me interesa mucho el tema vehiculos y animales, debido a las grandes distancias a recorrer, estan haciendo un juego muy pero muy bueno, ojala estas cosas las logren agregar pronto..

A todo esto queria pedir ayuda: descargue un mod de armas, lo que borro las originales que me traia el juego, quisiera saber si pueden enviarme el archivo y como reparar el problema, porque no puedo usar ningun arma de fuego, y se me complica, por favor, quiero volver a tener las armas originales, pistola, escopeta, rifle, y rifle de caza.. POR FAVOR

Now this is just a brainstorm but how about a small meter which shows how much noise you make? So you atleast have an indication of how much noise you are making.

If this is a no I can understand that.

However a small arrow that would point in the direction a meta-game event happens would be handy. I find it very hard to hear in which direction a meta-game happend. Or atleast it causes alot of confussion. It would be nice if you were capable of hearing where the noise came from.

 

Further questions:

 

[n]    Military Aid

What does this exactly mean? 

I get it, that it is a no. But does this mean no military in the game you can interact with?

 

Or does this mean that you cant call up on the aid of the military. Which seems pretty logical.

 

Furthermore how about airdrops. I searched the forums and found some posts regarding these but not really an answer if it is being considered or if its a no.

 

An airdrop in my eyes would look like something like this (for the sake of game balance)

Shall we say that in the first 2 weeks some planes fly over and drop some supplies. Only at the start. Nothing fancy like machine-guns or grenades but shall we say canned food or some tools. Basic stuff, would add another dimesion to immersion.

Now hear I am going to be a bit technical. Seeing how every single one of us is going to die. Since that is 1 of the 2 certainly of live. (The other is taxes) How about a real long term goal.

 

For example that after a couple of years no more zombies are being spawned since everyone is either dead or a badass survivor. Also that the zombies slowly decompos untill only skeltons remain. Wouldnt it be cool that you ''rebuild'' civilatizion.

 

Note: nothing fancy but I mean that you and other survivors start to band together. And just try to survive and rebuild.

 

A sort of meta-ending shall we say.

Like ''Congrats. you basically survived the zombie apocalypse, you and some other surivors will slowly start rebuilding society''.

 

Now for the rest of the game nothing will really change, you can still die but it would atleast let a small fling of hope into the future.

 

Cause to be honest I am kinde getting sick of movies/books/games etc where everyone is just fucked.

 

I mean tragedy is fine but tragedy without hope of something greater is emo fanfiction.

 

Now dont get me wrong Project Zomboid is great and the devopelers should do what they want since its there game but just a little nitpicking of me.

 

Edit: I think I will withdraw mine ''meta-ending'' idea. Rathlord made some good points.

The original quote regarding military aid specifically meant that the military would not be there to help the player. Doesn't mean there won't be military, but if there is a major military force we can pretty much safely assume they won't be actively helping the player/survivors.

In response to this, I'd just ask one more question:

 

What would be more rewarding to you as a player?

 

1) Organically setting up a community through hard work, sweat, and tears to a point where you feel you may have a chance at weathering the apocalypse, where you feel you've satisfied your personal goals for the game and succeeded in what you set out to do, or

 

2) You're just playing the game and suddenly the screen goes dark and says "yay, you've met an arbitrary goal set by the game and now it's over!"

 

Because for me (and I think most of the rest of the player base, from my experience) we'd much prefer to reach our goals organically and decide on our own when we feel we've met them rather than have an arbitrary trigger from the game that does it for us. Once you add an "ending," suddenly the entire game becomes about reaching that ending- for everyone. It shuts down alternate play styles and stomps on the very idea and fun of a sandbox game. Suddenly people are just trying to cheese it to make it to the "end". And then after a while, they get it down pat (because all they ever do is try to reach that "end") and then the game's not fun anymore, because they've reached it for the 12th time and it wasn't that hard. Instead, we have a game where everyone's having fun in their own way with no pressure to try to reach some set goal. Each time you play can be completely different, with different goals and different ways of getting where you want to go. End games don't work well with the spirit of a sandbox in my humble opinion.

Why are dragons not a confirmed yes when many devs said they are adding dragons, they wouldn't joke about things like that would they?

RJ: Some kind of gravity system? I’d be up for that, for sure! Either for construction (can’t construct a über big bridge without foundation, can’t construct a 2nd floor if it’s not a room under it…) or for demolition, if you burn the first walls floor for example, the whole building could collapse!
This need some research and calculation to see how it could work.. But I think I could base it on The Sims.. They did the construction quite well…

Lemmy: We gotta nerf those sky forts so I’d say this is a safe bet for ‘at some point.com soon ™ etc’

I've seen some people complain about the list of "No's", but keep in mind those are only developer no's. PZ's heavily moddable and the devs encourage mods a lot, so if you're bummed out that you can't smoke joints or fire named weapons in vanilla, keep in mind that modders can, will, and already have added them and other things, and will keep on adding content as we go. tl;dr just because the devs don't put something in themselves doesn't mean they'll forbid players from putting it in.

Yah unfortunately the original forums are now unavailable. I'm in the process of trying to restore those pages but right now I'm having to look through thousands of topics one at a time to find them. Will update OP when I find a better method and get them again. Thanks, though.
