CaptKaspar
I had this idea while my character was injured and forced to eat can after can of dog food to stay alive (it wasn't a pretty play through). But in my inventory I had a salt shaker. I thought 'I bet this dog food would taste better with some salt on it'. So why not instead of just being able to add salt to a recipe before we cook it, we could add salt/pepper (other spices) afterwards as well? Add some salt to that soup that you don't particularly like, what about that salad, stew needs some seasoning? That can of boring soup you just opened! How about that bland can of dog food? Just sprinkle some salt/pepper on it for a little happiness bump! Demonic_Kat, Johnny Fisher and Mr_Sunshine
Dragonbahn
Salt is there to give a food MORE taste, not GOOD taste. And if you ask me, dogfood is not a taste that I need more of. Source: Ate dogfood once just because.
Jericoshost
why stop at salt? Add proper seasonings and sauces to mask the flavor of bad foods make an edible can of crap.ketchup, mustard, vinegar, etc. CaptKaspar
Peetfighter
Salt could also act as preservation to increase the shelf life of raw meats at the cost of increasing thirst when eaten. Mr_Sunshine, mads232, Johnny Fisher and 2 others
Jeoshua
I would agree with the OP. Any cook can tell you that it is more effective to add salt after cooking than during, since then the salt is on the outside of the food, where it is easier to taste.
