Medicine and Bacterial Infections.

Deep wounds, and scratches should have a dire penalty to survivors, and if not treated property it will result in a Bacterial infection.

Also when you eat rotten food, or drink tainted water you should suffer from gastrointestinal infection, which is mostly caused by bacteria.

wounds:

Bacterial infection early stage - fever, nauseous, easily fatigue

Bacterial infection mid stage - high fever, nauseaus, decrease move speed, easily fatigue,

Bacteria infection late stage - very high fever, drastically decrease move speed and attack speed, severely fatigue, decrease perception

Bacterial infection terminal stage - death

---------------------------------------------------

Food poisoning:

Bacterial infection early stage  - fever, nauseous, vomiting (increase thirst)

Bacterial infection mid stage - high fever, nauseous, vomiting (dehydrated), easily fatigue, decrease move speed

Bacteria infection late stage - very high fever, vomiting (severely dehydrated), severely fatigue, decrease move and attack speed,      malnourished, decrease perception.

Bacterial infection terminal stage - death

---------------------------------------------------

revamp "resilient trait" make survivor resilient into catching bacterial infection not just slower zombification

new negative trait: "asymptomatic" no symptom of disease show at early and mid stage a person can be a carrier of  either                                                                 bacterial infection or zombification.

( make it harder to detect disease and will only show if the disease is already at critical stage.)

(The good thing about this is that you can still move around normally at early and mid stage)

---------------------------------------------------

The goal is to increase the challenge, it's not just you against zombies but you against nature too.

It will also be my  introduction to another idea... More Medicine, because the game lacks on this department.

Antibiotics-the only way to get rid of bacterial infection. getting scratch, having deep wounds, eating rotten food, eating uncooked                         food and drinking tainted water increase the risk of an infection. (This Med Should be Rare)

Antifungal- being always sweaty in the summer, getting wet under the rain, (not taking a bath) increase risk of  fungal                                             infection. (This Med Should be Rare)

Povidone-iodine-  give a long lasting disinfection effect than alcohol helps prevent bacterial infection if applied to scratches                                        and deep wounds. (This is Common)

Inhaler- for the people that picked Asthmatic as a negative trait also if NPC will have positive and negative traits like survivor you                      may want to take care of them if they are asthmatic. (This will be rare can probably be looted in zombie's purse or bag)

medicine like food expires. This will make late game surviving harder, because once all the meds expires you can no longer treat bacterial infection. Having an incurable bacterial infection is similar to being bitten, it's either kill as much zombie as you can before you die, or die quietly in a lonely dark room.

Without Antibiotics, and Antifungals, "herbs" should be an alternative but it needs maybe... level 5 foraging to be able to find one, and level 7 1st aiding, to be able to use the right herb or increase it's healing effects.

I think it fits the game's lore or world. After the apocalypse, medicine would not be produce anymore, thus it will reach to a point where it is so scarce that Medicine will be more valuable than gold.  People will be killing each other just for an antibiotic just to save a love one, a friend or an ally.

Medicine would probably the main reason for Hostile NPC (when it is applied in the future version this game). I mean, NPC should be Hostile for a reason right...

I also think it would make the game harder, but not too hard. New threats such as bacterial infection will be as dangerous as getting bitten, but the only difference is that being bitten is not curable but bacterial infection can be cured.

Sounds very deep. Personally I think the current system of infections are sufficient, but you also mention Inhalers. I think allergies could be a great idea for a trait that would require the player to carry or find an inhaler and give him some points to spend on positives traits.
