MyTJ
Hi everyone Got this idea reading Hrot post on light and reading : http://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php/topic/13528-reading-light-and-realism/ Got me thinking that other factors then lighting can impair reading, slowing it down or even degressing the progression slowly (think utterly shit faced trying to understand complex mathematical stuff). The most obvious ones that could probably have the greatest impact are : drunk and sleepy status. Others that could affect in a more limited way, all of them affecting slightly the ability to concentrate : hunger, thirst, pain, unhapiness On the positive side, there could be additionnal status like well-rested that would affect reading speed (among other things). Some new drugs could be implemented to affect positively concentration and thus reading speed (ex.: Methylphenidate, Atomoxetine, ...). Antidepressants could be ruled to have this effect (as Methylphenidate is sometimes used to treat depression), but would require to have a ''positive'' moodle when it goes over the threshold. hrot, WolfeClaw and uberevan
uberevan
Your intelligence and/or your reading speed in general could be contributing factors too, that come from the start of the game. A trait that lets you read skill books faster would be awesome. unmog and MyTJ
Lucius_5
Cool. Also, I think it's unbalanced that reading a skill book cost much much time, more than 1 gameday perhaps 'cause u have to eat, rest n overcome ur boredom ( skill books do not reduce ur boredom ) and stress, but reading general books or magazines cost only minutes less less n Less than skill books, weird right? Then setting a time-spending course for books n magazines is good. But if really want a boredom or stress reduction, so additions of low-time-spending reading items could be good, such as thin comics or brochures( okay fine this one reluctant).
