explorator
I read the in-game guide which says to hold down LMB to 'charge' my swing. When I hold control to get into fighting stance, my guy swings as soon as I hit LMB, there is no 'charging'. Am I supposed to hold LMB, and then use the control button to swing? That seems awkward as most games use LMB to swing, hit, or shoot. The guide should give explicit directions because it seems like this is a key component to melee. chthonic
To charge your swing you need to hold your "sneak" key. Default one is ctrl. The longer you hold it, the stronger the swing

ValueOfGravity
If you hit a zombie from 1 cm away, it will do minimal damage. You need to keep a moderate distance so you hit their head when you swing. Doing this with an axe pretty much guarantees a one-hit K.O. Edit : I guess this didn't answer anything xD
EllEzDee
Was probably written for an older build. You used to charge up your attack by holding the attack button down; now you just click to attack. You can still maximise your damage, though. If you pause between attacks, you'll do more damage than simply holding down the attack button. Doesn't have to be a long pause, either. Half a second should do it.
CaptKaspar
yeah there is no 'charge' indicator, but the basic idea is to not spam click the LMB. Also you can use the RMB instead of CTRL.
