Gasmasks/Hazmat Suits

In the apocalypse gas mask is commonly used and I think that it would work in this game.It could help as armor and defend you.It would also make the infection slower if you got infected. As for hazmat suits they should obviously be hard to find.Harder than gasmasks because hazmat suits are pretty helpful and cover your entire body. The gasmasks should be not as hard to find as hazmat suits but they shouldn't be in houses.Hazmat suits should be found on undead or zeds that way it adds difficulty to get them.As for gasmasks they should be found in stores or a military recruitment center. Also it should be found in both available maps.I believe it can change the game and add a sense of realism.Hazmat suits and gasmasks are things that would be used in the apocylipse as I said before and thats why I think it fits

For what purpose would the gas mask be commonly used?

I could imagine in a nuclear or biohazard type apocalypse it may come in handy to filter poisons and pathogens from the air, but in a zombie apocalypse what use would a gas mask be??

Also, I don't know if you've ever tried wearing a gas mask, but they certainly aren't the type of armour I'd want to be wearing! They're very vulnerable to breaking/shattering (I don't know if more modern ones are perspex or similar rather than glass - although glass is probably the least reactive to the substances you're protecting against), protect against airborne contagions (The PZ lore transmits the 'infection' via contact of bodily fluids in some form - so there's little point in respiratory protection from the 'infection' itself), and heavily restrict your sense of sight - both peripherally, and when/if they become condensated.

As for hazmat suits they should obviously be hard to find.Harder than gasmasks because hazmat suits are pretty helpful and cover your entire body.

Hazmat suits are not ideal for protection from sharp physical interactions - such as the grabbing and biting of zombies.

I don't fully understand why you'd be using a hazmat suit for protection, since again, you're not avoiding an airborne contagion and as soon as the suit is compromised (ripped, torn, or otherwise pierced) it becomes an essentially useless parachute wrapped around you. It also affects your vision as much as, if not more, than a gas mask.

The gasmasks should be not as hard to find as hazmat suits but they shouldn't be in houses.Hazmat suits should be found on undead or zeds that way it adds difficulty to get them.As for gasmasks they should be found in stores or a military recruitment center. Also it should be found in both available maps.

I absolutely agree that both of these would not be found in common housing, but restricted to specialist stores and storage facilities.

It should be noted that there are not two maps available in PZ, there's one single map with multiple spawn locations distanced from each other (you can venture to/from each spawn point within a single game). There are additional community created maps available as Mods, most of which are then located within the existing single map away from civilisation once activated.

I believe it can change the game and add a sense of realism.Hazmat suits and gasmasks are things that would be used in the apocylipse as I said before and thats why I think it fits

Although gas masks and hazmat suits are realistic, in terms of they physically exist in the real world, I'm not entirely sure what additional positive changes they would bring to the game. Sure they may be found IRL within the boundaries of the current PZ map (being based on a real life location), but their functionality and use within a zombie apocalyse is probably questionable at the very least.

Edit: whoa, that's a bit longer than I had intended!

TLDR; I'm loosely questioning how beneficial either a gas mask or hazmat suit would be in a zombie apocalypse, given the 'infection' is not airborne, and both are not idea against excessive physical contact. Not to mention loss of mobility, agility, and perception when worn!

If anyone's wondering here's my rough translation:

I don't think this would be a good idea since there's no indication that the virus is transmitted by air. It's transmitted by bites (also scratches). In the future I'd like to see new unique clothing.

The only use for these items I can imagine, and maybe this is where OP is coming from, in another thread, a suggestion was posted about a realism enhancement where you have to worry about getting their blood on/in wounds, with chance of infection. I posted an idea about visors and rubber gloves for protection. I could see hazmat suits and gas masks used to deflect spraying blood.

You can find it here...along with my suggestion for a hardcore mode. http://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php/topic/13099-some-additions-to-infection/
