Tin cans as alarm

Don't you people think that home made alarms are very useful.

The typical ones are those that are cans, with strings connected to the ceiling. Anyone who goes through it, will be known of course. I mean it's at some post apocalyptic games I've played and are actually very useful if you were the one to set it. Usually are those in fallout and metro. These thing will be useful when sleeping, like, when triggered, it will awake the player to be ready.

 

I mean dudes, if you would put this in your house, it wouldn't be too noisy of an alarm, like it's sound only travels inside the building.

Personally wouldn't use it myself, but I can see this begin a plausible in-game idea. Much like tree rustling etc they could be put on sticks and used to make a perimeter. If a zombie bumps it, it makes a soft noise. As for waking you up I don't believe it would depending on how close you are. Mind you if a zombie broke into your house I'm sure that you would hear that before the cans go off.

 

Some additional uses for empty cans might be filling them with water, or filling them with flammable materials to make some low explosive weapons/traps. Always annoyed me that you can't recycle cans.

You know, it may be useful if your trying to live in a house that has it's windows destroyed, but cans do make a little bit more noise than normal tree rustling

Good idea, I think I've suggested something like this in the traps and distractions thread.

 

I wouldn't want to set up any lethal traps around my safe house because I'd probably trigger them myself, but a low-tech warning device would be very useful. Besides, what else am I going to do with all the empty cans of food? Target practice maybe.

Tin cans! So many uses. Whether it be to fill up with water, warn you of danger or simply fill it with liquid epic :3.

Or something to practice stabbing with a butter knife, in order to acquire the deliciousness within.

. . . it's much more effective than it sounds.
