Hydrocraft Mod

Right, i've seen that. It's quite helpful, there is another page that has another list as well.

I was just thinking of something more complete. Where certain items have their own pages. Though, that would confuse vanilla players if each HC item had it's own page. Which was why i was thinking of a separate wiki, with more in depth explanations.

Does it require knowing how to code to do that sort of thing? (creating a wiki or adding info to a current wiki)

The wiki code is actually very easy because you can simply reference other articles/items/codes/images/tags etc in making your articles. The main problem we've had beyond that is some people have complained about site admin removing articles and pages relating to Hydrocraft.

And the site admin made a comment in one thread about the wiki that he didn't like seeing articles on mods getting updated when the main wiki wasn't, and that he didn't feel mods should really be on the main wiki. That's why I only made the one update to the Hydrocraft page on the wiki - I didn't want to annoy the admin and have that page removed as well.

OK so, then adding to the PZ vanilla wiki sounds like something that might ruffle feathers.

Is there another option? Can we just make a new wiki?

don't know if you already fixed this.. missing recipes..

That's a lot of spelling errors there Hydro...XD

And I high doubt anyone wants to consider making a wiki separate for Hydrocraft because then we'd have to go request use of Zomboid's assets and images on the site and blah blah blah etc.

Also, some of your recipes don't make sense with the ingredients.. Like the baseball bat modifiers.. using duct tape to hold a monkey wrench or hedge trimmers on?.. I suggest changing it to belts, or maybe belts and duct tape.. but not just duct tape.. awesome work btw :).

Where do you guys usually find thermometers? I went to Cortman Medical and they didn't have a single one. It's required for the steam machine, which without, you can't make a simple stamp mill and furthermore can't make concrete ingots and and then buckets of concrete for the next recipes.

I just lost a 10 hour game because I couldn't find a thermometer >:L

I think someone suggested they be crafted given their rarity.

Did this change? because i can make concrete, and i've never found a thermometer. I did make a stamp mill with crank however.

THough, i still haven't found a thermometer. I'm in West point, checked out Pharmahug, nothing, then ran all the way to Muldraugh to go to cortmans medical, and still nothing (though i did find my first petri dish!)

First, sorry for my grammar or mispellings, since english is not my first language.

I am really loving this mod and how much it adds to PZ. i was about to burn out and quit playing until NPCs were brought back (a noob death on a really advanced character), but this mod kept my interest on the game and gave me a lot of gameplay hours.

I have been cathing up with the thread, reading through the mod updates and learning many of the reciepes. Now I think i am up to date and have many suggestions which I hope you like:

Regarding DOGS:

I work as a dog trainer, so I find annoying that you can just find a dog and have it find cows and pigs just by smelling a poop. Dogs could become a drainable with a reciepe like "Taim dog", whitch kept the whistle and consumed some kind of food, ending with a "Taimed Dog", drainable as well. Then you could make a Doll and fill it with one poop, that would be the "Teach how to find..." recipe. Then the Dog would become a "Pig/Cow tracker Dog".

This would make each dog valid only for finding the animal he has learnt to track, and also would be fun to have many dogs doing different chores. It is really summarized, but works for the game mechanichs.

I also think dogs should be part on the hunting recipes, with training to do as well.

I realize this is a lot of recipes, because all the breeds and all the variables, but I would lovely write all those recipes if the idea suits your mod.

Regarding FUEL:

Biodiesel can be really easy destiled with the olive oil and methanol, which are already in Hydrocraft, and caustic soda (google translated it) which would need to be added. The machinery consists only in one metal hopper (can be plastic, but metal is better for heating and in game purposes).

The procces would go like this:

1. Oil needs to be heated to remove impurities (hopper+spatule).

2. Caustic Soda is mixed with methanol. (gas mask/improvised gas mask needed).

3. methanol+caustic soda mix goes into hopper. 4. mix all ingredients.

4. the mix needs to stand still for a while so you can open the hopper and remove the glycerin at the bottom of it (neither to say that glycerin can be used to make bombs and soap)

5. Now you have unwashed biodiesel. Add a few litres of water and remove, then wait for water and biodiesel to be separated and open the hopper. Repeat this step until the water comes out clean.

6. You need to reheat the biodiesel to eliminate any trace of methanol or water through evaporation (temperature needs to be controled thogh, because the biodiesel could be damaged.

there are a few test that need to be done to see if the oil is good, or the biodiesel comes out with the right PH, but no sense putting those in game.

The biodiesel obtained could be used directly on the generator with much less eficiency, if the modding tools allow it. If not, then biodiesel should be turned on reeal fuel uppon filling one empty gas can.

Regarding BOOKS

They are really, really, really.... could keep going... overpowered. I found the solution making a new book item with same texture but any of the benefits (just like the gunsmithing book, a plain readable book).

Also adult magazines could be nerfed a little (I can eat whatever I want, be sieged by an horde on my first floor, and stand still for days, then take a magazine, play "five against one" and everithing goes away). And in the same way as books, it would turn into a magazine which gave a little less boredom/unhappnes change (even porn gets boring if you whatch it over and over)

I againg realize its a lot of new recipes and items and iit is really tedious, buy I would glad to do it for the sake of Hydrocraft.

Regarding GYMS&TOWELS

BUG: Training on the Stand consumes a bit of my dry towel but gives a full wet towel.

I made my own set of boxing gloves since I could not find any and it should be something easy to do with some sheet, needle, thread and something to stuff it.

What I really wanted to say about this.... I really don't like reusing a sweety towel and asuming its clean just by hanging it, so I think Bleach  (or a new added detergent), water and a wooden bucket should be a perfect recipe to turn a wet towel into a Washed Towel, and hang the last one in the Clothes Line to get it dry.

I think I had some other stuff to say, but so far it is enought. I would love to help on writing some recipes if it's needed.

Well tell ya what: if you can message the admin or devs and clarify that for us - we'll get right on it. :) I have some articles typed and ready to go but some IRL commitments right now are preventing me from contributing as much as I previously did to the community a few weeks ago.

If you can get a final and decisive answer for us that they will allow us to use it - bam. We're in the door. No excuses. We start the wiki!

Dogs ARE used in hunting. They give you a +5% success to hunting. As for training, I was trying to make different breeds more valuable for different tasks. I have trained my own pet dogs before too. Not professionally but still I understand what it takes for dog training. I am not oppose for a more complex system but right now its not high priority.

Yeah probably will get tweaked eventually. However toys you can do a similar thing with its just not visible in the UI.

Thanks for reporting I will ave to check out the towel bug. That's a good idea for them making a "dirty towel" It would give a use to the wash bin I have. So yeah good idea!

As for new recipes feel free to suggest some. I cannot guarantee they get in or even get in fast, but I am open to ideas.

Did you ever use duct tape in your life? Really... Dude... Definitely stronger than a belt.

@ Hydromancerx: Thank you so much for great work! You implemented cooling boxes... Do they exchange the refridgeator? Do they cool?! Thanks!

I did not realize dogs could be used for hunting already. I figured it would not be a priority, thats why I would gladly write those recipes and let you work on more important stuff.

As for fuel, I will tweak my recipes so I can make it until its included(I will need to use already existing art, though).

Books I can gladly help with them, since I am going to do it for me anyway.

I though first of a "dirty towel" which became wet, but then it occured to me that a "washed towel" coming from a "wet towel" would need less coding and changes to the reciepes.

This would also let towels used to dry yourself when you are wet to be washable. And only washed towels could be used on the clothes line.

About the archery target, is it dropping the archery book to the floor because there needs to be a result in the recipe?

I am no expert in coding at all, jus enough to understand how recipes are made and items and icons added. Spawn lists and beyond, go out of my control.

Ok, i have emailed TIS at the email they provided in your link EnigmaGrey to see if they are ok with it.

Does anyone know if the PZ Wiki is run by someone from TIS? or someone else?

The reason i ask, is i would ideally like all PZ Vanilla items on our wiki to link to the PZ wiki. Unless you think just duplicating or rewriting the PZ vanilla items in the HC wiki is a better idea.

I have this same issue.

The recipe for Constantan ingots i think comes from the "Copper Working" text book, i have looked in my library, and my Copper Working textbook does not include that recipe.

I had read the book before the update, so i am not sure if i need to find a new copper working textbook, or if they just didn't update in my game.

My copy of copper working textbook says "You have already read this"

My hope is that i just need to find another copy of it that says i haven't read it.

It is odd though, my copy of Bronze Working textbook seemed to auto update itself into Alloys Working, or whatever it's called.

Okay then. Since we're at the consensus to create an ALL NEW wiki...let's have some input on the new web address then.

  • pz.hydrocraft.wikia.com?
  • projectzomboid-hydrocraft.wikia.com?
  • hydrocraftmod.wikia.com?

Input your suggestions folks!

Hydromancer,

When you moved the recipes into the new Alloys textbook, it looks like something went wrong:

	item HCBookbronzeworking	{		Weight		=	0.5,		Type		=	Literature,		DisplayName	=	Alloys Textbook,		Icon		=	HCBookbronzeworking,		TeachedRecipes  =   	Make Bronze Ingot;Make Brass Ingot;Make Electrum Ingot;Make Zinc Ingot;Make Nickel Ingot;Constantan Ingot;Recycle Bronze;Recycle Zinc;Make Bronze Bullet Casings,        	ReplaceOnUse    =   	HCBookbronzeworking,	}

The Make Constant Ingot recipe became "Constantan Ingot".

Dumatoin, I originally had the recipe for constantan ingots in the copper working textbook as well as the alloys textbook when I posted the recipes here, which may be what you're thinking of - it's not in the copper working textbooks in the mod.

It is, that's what I posted above - the recipe is Make Constantan Ingot, but something went wrong when Hydromancer moved the recipes over - the recipe is still called Make Constantan Ingot, but the book is trying to teach you the recipe "Constantan Ingot", which doesn't exist, so it doesn't show up.

I spoke to Will at TIS, and he is wanting to know, if it's able, if we would be interested in having the hydrocraft wiki hosted in a subsection on the PZ wiki. I don't think he knows for sure if it's doable or not, but says he will ask around.

So, i guess we will see how that pans out before finding a site?

Also, he mentioned that using PZ vanilla assets is perfectly fine in regards to their terms and conditions as long as nobody was making money off of it, which i assured him, is not what we're doing.

Another thing, he wants to know if adding it to Mondoid would be of any help, and i mentioned it would be great once we get a basic shell set up.

Thoughts?

I've spent days foraging trying to get some straw (actually modded ISScavengeAction to be almost instant, or it would take RL days to do that much foraging), but i've yet to find a single blade of hay (and oh, so so many needles).

I was thinking of modding RemoveGrass (RemoveBush and RemoveGlass aswell) to spawn grass, straw and maybe some other easy foraging stuff like twigs, stones, etc, but there doesn't seem to be any easy way to do it... Adding something like player:getInventory():AddItem("Hydrocraft.HCGrass"); would be how i'd go around it, but i've no idea if it would work or what function it should be in (just grabbed that snippet of code from MindMod, i have zero coding skills).

If anyone can help with this i'm really out of luck with a lot of HC recipes without this ingredient... :(

Or perhaps, there's another way to get straw that i'm simply unaware of...?

Hey folks, i just got into some sort of problem where i just can't find any fire axe in the game. I just looted like around 3 warehouses with total like 30 boxes (tech loot spawn). I also couldn't find a saw as well. Crazy amount of other loot though. What i was wondering if this mod somehow override vanilla items spawn? Maybe i am just really unlucky, but generally each warehouse is at least 1-3 axes and i had no luck finding a single one out of 3 warehouses.

:(
