  1. Currently, character doesn't even feel pain when he get hit by zombire or blunt weapon like frying pan (But I think that he should), so I decided to suggest a new type of injure that blunt weapon can do — bruises. Bruises appear in short time after getting hit and cause minor pain (and Pain if trying to do something with it). It doesn't need extra medication to heal it, but you can speed up healing by ?applying bandage? Bruises, usually, disappear in 1-2 days, so it won't be a injure that you need to worry about.
  2. Zombification is one of the most important things in the game. But it's so obvious, that sometimes ruins itself. When you see 2 main symptoms - Anxiety and Queasy - you know what it is (Except for newbies, that don't read wiki), and you know that you can't save your character. I suggest a few things: Hypochondriac by default Hypochondriac is one of my favourite traits in the game. it adds to the gameplay so much. What do most players do without this trait when they get a scratch and see the symptoms - kill everything that you can, you'll die anyway. What does player with Hypochondriac? Waits, maybe it's not true zombification! It gives you a chance. I would rather pay points to not be Hypochondriac, than get points for being him. Diagnosing One of the main signs of zombification is anxiety. It's logical, that character fears for his life, but why he does that only when illness kicks in? I'd be anxious in that situation from the moment of scratch. So, I suggest to add (lowest) anxiety moodle even if you're not ill. I suggest to add diseases to the medical tab, near the wounds. Similar to "Hand: scratch", something like "Whole body: Queasy". I have 2 ideas how to deal with it. 1) Click on the queasy (Similar to bandaging), select (Diagnose). Sure, unskilled one wouldn't determine right away, so, maybe, make it depend it character's medical skill? No skill or a little bit of skill - something like "I can't say..." or just a low chance of finding out truth. Some skill - mediocre chance. Doctor+ - maybe good old 95%? That would also give you a reason to team up with people and level up medical skill. 2) Write symptoms directly. Like "Queasy: coughing, vomiting, high body temperature". It would be more interesting for the player, but easier too. You could still find combos in wiki and remember them, but it sounds kinda fun. What do you think about it? Is it hard to implement?
  3. So I had a thought while reading the previous thread "Another Death From Old Age Thread" and had an idea about negative traits that could add in certain medical conditions. I do know we already have asthma in which should be updated a bit to include wheezing/ hard to catch breath after a run, maybe even the implementation of inhalers or even nebulizers which would help asthma related issues over a longer amount of time than just an emergency inhalers 'quick fix' method (Been thinking of the addition of inhalers for awhile now though and was going to talk to Hydromancerx about adding this into Hydrocraft if possible, I did already make the art for it lol) Anyways ill get back on topic, a few other ideas for this could include having heart problems, such as needing to take heart medicine on a daily basis, now that would prove to be quite a challenge and realistic one at that for a zombie apocalypse. also brings up the idea of adding prescription medicines that can only be found behind the counter in pharmacies in smaller quantities and also in hospitals in larger quantities. With having a weak heart it should be noted that long lasting situations of panic could possibly cause a heart attack (a lower chance of this occurring with daily medicine being taken as prescribed) another problem would be eating crappy foods, greasy, salty you get what I mean lol. Now the risk of heart problems could also be decreased with exercise, medicine, eating good food (if possible lol, it is a zombie apocalypses, its not like fresh food is regularly available, but you know what I mean ;P ) . A few other negative medical traits could be things like the following: Arthritis: things that could help would be steroid shots, pain killers/reducers various steroidal creams. What negative effects it could cause would be not being able to run long distances without joint pain, climbing fences/sheet ropes slower, moving inventory items slower (but not as slow as the 'All Thumbs' trait) and possibly -1 to strength and less knock back using melee weapons. C.O.P.D.: Medicine that could help would be similar to asthma medicine but I think there is daily medication you can take as well and also in some cases people with c.o.p.d. need a machine that hooks up to there nose that pumps air in to help them breath so they can sleep (my grandfather needs to use this). Some negative effects could include a persistent cough, not anything major, but you know just coughing every now and then. not being able to run long distances without having to rest, coughing while resting and hard to catch breath. Those are just some ideas. figures I had a bunch of others in my head while I was thinking about it, and now that I'm actually typing this up I cant think of any other haha figures, but I digress. I think this would add quite a bit of challenge to the game especially if you were to play a randomized character and realized "Oh shit! he has a heart condition and only 9 pills left! ". That would cause some hectic situations to arise i'm sure lol, And I know I'm not supposed to say the N word on here but...wait...hey not THAT N WORD, ya crazies... , I'm talking about the ever elusive 'En Pea Seas'! I think it would be awesome to have a group and you realize that, (hmm we'll just call him Bimmy...yes...Bimmy...) Bimmy is disoriented, kinda walking slow and out of breath and he tells you he's run out of his blood pressure/saline/whatever medicine, so then Jimmy walks up (he's the group nurse/Doc) and takes his blood pressure/blood sugar and its DANGEROUSLY low! ~DUN DUN DUNNNN! and would ya look at that! BOOM! there's a quest for ya! "Go find Bimmy some blood pressure/saline/whatever medicine before he's zombie food!" Just an idea but hey I think it could work quite well, also there could also be positive medical traits as well, I just don't have any on my mind right now since I jut thought of that lol. They could also be in a separated list than the regular kinds of traits, like have a list for positive and negative Medical traits, Skill traits, Personality traits, ECT. Anyways i could probably keep typing for hours so im going to end this idea here before I think of even more things to add lol, this is my first suggestion I've posted here but let me know what you all think! EDIT: Damn I should have made the title of the thread just "Medical Problem Based Traits" or something along those lines, sigh my bad haha, My idea kind of developed while I was typing it lol
  4. In a world full of zombies, broken windows and whatnot. One is bound to run out of medical supplies such as disinfectant (and/or whiskey). It does undoubtedly call for the need to make your own. My li'l idea is to give us the ability to build a distillery to brew our own alcohol. To drink or use for medical purposes. In addition to this I'll also suggest a new class: The Brewer along with a brewing skill. As the brewer's skills increases I'm thinking along the lines that he/she/it can: Be more specific about what is going to be produced (whiskey, vodka, beer, disinfectant etc. etc.).Produce better quality liquor (increased stats of the product).Slightly decrease the time it takes to produce something.Along they way this opens up new possibilities for farming and usage of some items (i.e apples). It's just an rough idea at the time, it can probably be polished on. But yeah, this could be something handy to have in the future. (My excuses if this has been suggested already, my own search came back with 0 results.)
  5. Since I'm getting into PZ again, I thought I would make a suggestion. I have already seen all 3 of the things that I am about to suggest listed on this forum, I just thought I would back their ideas and show my support without resurrecting 3 separate threads. Keep in mind that I do not have knowledge of the entire change log, and since I have only recently started playing, I may be rambling on about things that may already be implemented into the game. Problem- I feel like the chef profession, along with the cooking skill in general are bad trade-offs in comparison to other skills such as carpentry. While it is nice to be able to maximize food potential, I don't feel the need to be a dedicated cook, since you can easily find foods in town, grow them in your garden, go fishing, or be a trapper. While being a chef isn't necessarily bad, I feel like there are many other professions which trample over the usefulness of being a dedicated cook. Solution- I would suggest giving a player with a high cooking skill the ability to create foods with certain perks or bonuses, with potency based on cooking skill. This would allow a dedicated chef to prepare his group with certain foods that would provide temporary buffs such as reduced panic, increased strength, better accuracy, and increased stamina. Problem- Foraging is a very nice, and welcomed addition to any survival game. I feel like foraging has its uses, but it could be so much more. I feel like alone, foraging isn't something that would make a man rich, however I feel like it should be a means of substitution for other professions to acquire certain products (Albeit diluted products) that are difficult to find otherwise. Solution- Foraging should be a skill that also benefits either the group, or another profession. Adding a few very basic herbs to the game (Such as Aloe, Chicory, ect.) would allow a high level first aid player to treat minor wounds, and make a diluted substitute for other medical items. This could also apply to other professions, such as cooking, fishing, and trapping. Let me know of your thoughts on this.

  7. Welcome. This is another one of my many LONG posts as you may know. So as normal I would like to thank you for taking a look at this and warning you, it will be a long post. Now I would like to get to the post so here we go. Let’s jump right into the list of new illnesses and injuries: · Headaches- This minor effect causes pain and strain when hearing noise or moving a lot. This is a symptom of dehydration, a fever, or head injuries. · Bruises- This is caused from blunt damage, and collision with things. It just causes minor pain when moving, hit, or damaged. · Sunburns- This is caused from being out over a long period of time without being covered or having sunscreen on. It will leave a lasting burn over exposed surfaces, and cause pain when touched or exposed to hot water as well as the sun. · Sweaty- This effect as described in my clothing ideas will cause clothes to become wet as well as dirty making zombies able to smell you from a short distance. It over time will also speed up the process of a rash forming. · Rash- This is caused when uncomfortable and wet over periods of time or caused be reactions to things. It will just simply make your character unhappy, move and work slower, as well as pain if not taken care of. · Wilts- These are like bruises but come from other sources. · Splinters- This is something that causes minor pain from working with wood bare handed. Removed by tweezers. · Sore- This is a Moodle caused by running or working for long periods. It makes you weaker and slower as well as pain whenever moving. · Toothaches- this is caused by eating junky food repeatedly for long periods. · Discomfort- this is another cause of rashes from being wet, multiple layers of clothing, and other things. · Cramps- These are caused by having too much junk, alcohol, or symptoms of illnesses. · Streep throat- This illness is caused randomly and causes pain whenever eating or drinking. It heals over time and with antibiotics. · Pink eye- This is caused randomly and fixed by eye drops. It causes a lower visibility arc and spreads faster if exposed to others with it. · Athlete’s foot- This is caused by being barefoot often or having dirty shoes mentioned in my clothing ideas. It causes discomfort and slight pain. · Fever- This is caught from being in cold temperatures, exposed to illness, or randomly. It causes you to feel hot and cold randomly, not be hungry or thirsty but still need it, and be tired constantly. · Cold- Caused by the same things as fevers but has different symptoms. With colds you feel tired, not hungry or thirsty, you sneeze often, have blurred vision, and sometimes a sore throat. · Sprains/tears- this is caused by pushing yourself past sore or exhausted and still going. It causes pain when moving, if walked on can lead to permanent damage in legs, getting more severe. It takes only about a week to recover and you require rest. · Flu- this is caused randomly like the cold and flu but makes you feel nauseous, tired, not hungry or thirsty, and sneeze often. · Ammonia- this comes from being wet and cold. It is like a really bad cold and fever but you need medical attention urgently. · Hypothermia- this is from being in the cold. It causes slowness in speed and working; you lose feeling of arms and legs, as well as start to lose your vision. · Heat stroke- much like hypothermia this is from the heat. It makes you thirsty and tired as well as sweaty. As time passes your vision blurs and fades until you black out. · Concussion- caused by blunt trauma this causes nausea and headaches. · Scrapes- these are caused by damage and do very little but cause pain and doo bleed slowly. Caused from minor damage sources. · Minor cuts- Like scrapes but these are a little bit worse and bleed a bit faster while causing more pain. Now for a list of new medical items and some with updated uses: · Weak pain killer- This is a pain killer found in houses that can stop minor pain · Strong pain killer- This is a painkiller that will kill almost any pain but can only be found in medical centers. · Aloe Vera- This is used to heal sunburns faster. · Sunscreen- this makes sunburns takes longer to occur. · Rash ointment- used to heal rashes or soothe them for the time. · Ice pack- Used to cool down · Heat pack- Used to warm up. · Toothpaste- helps prevent toothaches. · Allergy pill- used to stop allergies or sneezing. · Cold medicine- helps heal colds and makes you tired. · Medical braces- This helps you heal from sprains and strains faster. · Super glue- helps heals small cuts and scrapes. · Cough syrup-This helps heal colds, flu’s, and fevers. · Tongue depressant- This is possibly used for crafting? · Q-tips- like cotton balls, for disinfecting but more precise and does better for deep wounds. · Stethoscope- helps diagnose medical problems. · Eye drops- soothes pink eye. · Fungal killer- kills athlete’s foot. · Deodorant- his helps stop you sweating for a certain time. · Scalpel- this is used to cut and remove objects in the body with precision. It also could be a weapon. · Rubber gloves- These gloves can be worn during medical procedures so you don’t spread any illnesses or cause an infection that could prove fatal. · Crutch- This could be used as a weapon but also as a way to move with injured legs. · Syringe- possibly for stronger medical things or used for other things. Now for the new occupations and ETC: · Diagnosis system- This system proposes that doctors can make a flawed diagnosis on both the living and dead. The higher the skill the more accurate the diagnosis. It will be able to tell whether he is stabbed when low leveled to what tool was used, at higher levels. This skill also has a variation where it is the diagnosis of the mental state of people. (Proposed by Jericoshost. Link down below.) · Psychiatrist- This job costs -6 but in return gives +2 to the skill of Observant and the trait analytic. · Doctors- Now can tell the different wounds at a higher chance then an average player. (1.2X boost) · Observant skill- This skill is the skill of observing you surroundings and understanding players/people better. The higher it is the better you can read NPC’s and observe little details around you. · Analytic trait- This trait boosts the speed the observant skill levels up and increases its effectiveness. Now as always this post has to end so I would like to thank you for taking the time to look at this and enjoy. 8. hi As the title says, i am asking where do i find the file that allows me to add new medical recipes? For example, i am wanting to add a "Homemade Splint" that consists of gauze wrap and planks. This would be better than the "Makeshift Splint" consisting of twigs and sheets. However, i cannot find the location of the file that allows me to create the new recipe for the Homemade Splint to allow me to apply it the character. I know how to add the specific medical item (you just go to "Items" folder and make it there). I just don't know the location for adding the specific recipe that allows you to apply the medical item to your character. If someone could inform me of where i could find the file that allows you to add new medical recipes, i would greatly appreciate it ! Thank you for taking the time to read my thread and God Bless! cya, Alexei
  9. Hey guys! Was playing with some friends today and was think about the medical system. I already really like the ability to perform first aid on other people but I was thinking about how much farther that could go. I know at some point you will be adding the ability to pass out in the game. How cool would it be if you could drag your passed out friend to safety? If your like me then you've taken that jump out of the second story when you weren't quite paying attention to the amount of zombies paying you and untimely visit. Lets say that not only did you break your leg but you took a head injury and your moodlet pops up *feeling a little concussed*. You pass out but your buddie rescues you. Drags you into the house and puts you in bed. Splints your leg and maybe feeds and waters you through the medical window. And you wake up ready to hobble around for a few weeks. I don't think the time you spend passed out should be very long. No one wants to just sit there watch their character get better. But I think it would add a nice element to the game. The animations shouldn't be to hard to do. Most of the work would lie in the finer details of the when's where's and how's of passing out. I think this kind of interaction would bring some good things to the mutiplayer side of the game(or even NPCs for single). Even if it my friend just drags me behind a crate in the mall and we say our goodbyes and loose all our ammo into the zombies before we die:)
  10. Hay dudes I'm Lucius, thought of some suggestions these days n managed to show 'em by painting, come take a look. First let's look at this picture: I found that the total town area( light green part ) of PZ game-playing map is less than 15% ( much less perhaps? ), But total area of forest n field ( red part ) reaches 85% already. ( Sorry I never play any mod map before, but expect them. ) You might go food-searching in the forest or do fishing by lakes when you're in lack of food for a long gameplaying time, or get a migration between towns if u don't stay at the same living base for long. Whatever, for different seasons, weather n areas, u could get unavoidable damage, such as insect bites n snake bites that never added to PZ in the past, so I suggest that add more injured ways and treatments. ·Harm From Insects Mosquito Bites I'm not living in Kentucky, so I don't know ecological environment n weather of it well. As we all know, mosquito live near by somewhere wet n warm, especially close to the water, undisputablely.Lots of forest promote a huge transpiration that leads to rain and wet air, then tons of mosquitoes breed. You might not go into forest or field, but mosquitoes can be everywhere, so u may get bitten by them more or less. Compound menthol ointment So.. you need some pruritus relief. (Hay I swear that is not Mentholatum! ) Insect Repellent Or a little bottle of insect repellent? Poisonous Insect Bites With more pruritus than mosquito bites,u might get poisoning in any levels, then we need more treatment, poison suction, wound disinfection, bandaging and take a alexipharmic pill. Alexipharmic of insect poison ·Harm From Snakes Snakes live everywhere rght? Innocua Bites Not easy to fatal, just need a disinfevction and a bandage. Poisonous Snake Bites Can be deadly anytime, need to stop vonem from spreading ( Medical rubber tube is the best choice.) and do a suction at once, then take antiophidica, n serum-injection if necessary. Medical rubber tube Antiophidica Injector The snake serum Injector with snake serum (No doubt that injector will be added right? ) ·Excessive Bleeding I though u might stop bleeding but lost too much blood, then get anemia, so my point is that it can't be easy-recovered only by eating n rest much right? Well... we need a blood injection. Bloodbag (could be different types, A B O AB huh-un... ) Infusion tube And different blood-type choice could be a good addition. Well I did this extra 'cause I'm a blunt-player, u know so. Linctus ·More? Yah yah there are more nice suggestions from me but... I'm just too lazy to give more ya know. Umm... I know these make game more diffcult, but that's all I wanna suggest and we like challenges right? And how do you guys think?
  11. so I recently discovered that if you have a fracture and a scratch on the same limb, you can only treat one of them at a time. my suggestion is obviously to allow treatment of both injuries. a bandage could be applied to the bleeding wound and then a splint applied over the top. simple. currently my character is slowly dieing from a minor scratch. it cant stop the bleeding because the limb is splinted from small fracture I sustained earlier. also bleeding from scratches should stop on its own eventually.
  12. I am currently using the early access build version 30.9; I'm a little over one month in on regular survival. While building something on the second floor of my base, I accidently fell and fractured right shin. From what I've looked up and from what I understand, I SHOULD have what I need to make a splint (One ripped sheet, a sturdy stick and/or a tree branch). I currently have 8 ripped sheets, 1 tree branch, 16 sturdy sticks and 1 regular sheet all in my inventory and I am not getting an option to make a splint. Am I doing something wrong?
  13. The revamped medical system has added a lot of new items that you have to now loot for and keep track of while surviving. It's sometimes frustrating to have to search for aspirin, tweezers, needles, thread, bandages, disinfectant, antibiotics, oh my! Just look at how much more STUFF there is: http://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php/topic/11292-iwbums-build-30/ First aid kits should generate in the world with variable quantities of these medical supplies (all-in-one medkits will be rare). First aid kits should be a specialized containers with slots for medical-related items. I know the devs don't have time to actually play around and find the snags in gameplay like micro-managing all of your medical supplies, but it's pretty obvious that the click-and-drag simulator that is the revamped medical system overshadows the more fun aspects of the game, no offense. Finding first aid kits won't be very common, so it will be a luxury among groups to have one for quick anatomical repairs. The reason medical kits are needed: When all of your med supplies are in you backpack, the game doesn't recognize that you have the items until you pull them out. Having your trusty medkit to take out in case of a lodged bullet will save you the hassle. It will essentially be a container in a container, but when pulled out, can automatically access any supplies within it necessary to dress your wounds. Still, those who don't have a medkit will find themselves dirtying up their duffle bag with their trembling blood-drenched fingers trying to find that damn needle! Bonus idea: Thinking more about specialized containers as I write this got me thinking that they could include tool kits as well. Once vehicles are added, they'll most likely have a whole slough of new items to fix up cars. At this point, you'll want a tool kit in the back of your truck in case your fuel pump starts leaking or your hatchet is getting loose. Though of course, a backpack could serve as this so I don't think it's as necessary. EDIT: Okay so scratch basically all of this since it's already a thing. So much for being a step ahead of the devs!

    Doctor?

so the first thing right off the bat I feel there needs to be a Doctor career for the game when build 30 is official. maybe a boost to first aid skill or naturally better bandages tho I feel the simplest thing could be just spawning with a first aid kit if you choose to be a doctor/EMT. i mean I know alot of people are gonna say thats OP to jsut find one but thats the point of a career to start with something you wanna specilize in
  15. Hello everyone! I'm VenomDG and i've noticed while playing multiplayer that you CAN NOT sleep. This is an issue due to some sicknesses only being curable with sleep and rest. The main and most common being nausea. Me and my friends have tried many things and tried searching up MANY times on how to fix this issue but the only cure we found was sleep. We have died every time we were effected by this which sucks because as soon as you see you know your queasy, And that leads to one inescapable thing... Adding the ability to sleep in multiplayer sort of like how minecraft does with everyone needing to sleep at once for it to work, or just making it where you lay in a bed and you have a 5 minute timer or something and need to wait while your character rests would be AMAZING. I'm tired of dying every time from a sickness you practically cant avoid. Hopefully something will be added in to cure nausea besides sleep or sleep added to multiplayer. Thanks for your time.
  16. Hiho! Another suggestion either for Survival or Sandbox: Healing phase only during sleep Background: At the current, food acts like magical healing bottles. If you're recieved damage, eat something, recover your health and than continue your looting campaign (maybe killing just another amount of 20+ Z's on your way). Suggestion: If food won't have the healing ability (but should've positive effect on regeneration while sleeping if youre fed), you've the opportunity to decide wether to continue (with the handicap of being injured) or interrupt your looting campaign, return home to your savehouse and take a break for recover. While sleeping you regenerate your health (not fully recover, just an amount of hp), so it can take a longer time to be healed completly, compared of your suffered injuries. The condition of your hunger and thirst and the quality of your sleeping place should add a bonus to the regeneration. Suggestion II: To compensate for the lack of the healing rate of food, there should be added (rare or very rare) medical supplies like regeneration boosters or adrenaline syringes (too much playing JA2 ). Also an option "Rest until completly healed" should be added if going to bed. I'm looking forward to your opinions
  17. I know you can find medical sups in the game already but in my opinion its way to rare (I mean if I was to go into all the houses in my area pretty much all houses would have a little stash) I just think meds should be more common. also indiestone I know your busy beavering away with other stuff but do you plan on going even more complex with the medical side of the game (example: more types of injuries and ways to get through them) and maybe different kinds of sicknesses (cause iv only ever seen some one get sick once ((and I watch mathas a lot :3 ) any way please keep up the good work PZ is my main game and will be long after you finish it

    DRUGS!

I HAVE CAME BACK TO MAKE THIS SUGGESTION ONCE AGAIN! I have made it before but it was before the big forum update So here we go We should add Drugs. WHY YOU SAY?! Because it'll add so SO much diversity within game-play. I was thinking you'll be able to grow it or find it in people homes since the farming is already it why not? And it'll add more gameplay with having to grow it and such. Their would be many different drug types including Cocaine, Marijuana, Meth, PCP?, Heroin. (Maybe more) Now I was thinking each drug would have its own ups and downs (Depending on how much you use it/the amount you use) There could be these different actions Addiction - The player now NEEDS the drug to survive. If he doesn't use it to a certain time limit he gets a large withdraw effect Overdose - The play could die taking too much of the drug. Effects - Cocaine Would have speed improvement abilities for a short-while but then you come down from the high you will feel nauseous or something of that. Marijuana will sooth you and get rid of small pains and make your movement A BIT impaired. (Depends on how much you smoke) But you get the drift! And off course smoking comes with a risk of zombies smelling it... BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE Since the drugs are in the game there's going to be people looking and killing for them in gangs...
